Ability/Potential vs Attributes

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what's the best way to buy new players, as in, do people focus on ability/potential and what role the player is comfortable in or do people use the built-in attributes for the roles they're looking to recruit in?

I personally have used the built-in attributes and I find generally that the players who aren't 'suited' for the roles that I'm looking for actually have the attributes that are needed for the role. Also, is it better to buy, let's say, a full back whose ability is three stars but attributes aren't good enough or someone whose one star with better attributes? Just as an example.

Star ratings is purely perceptual by your coaches. If your coach/scout has poor JPA/JPP that will skey the ratings slightly too. If you have someone who has the perfect attributes for your role that you require but only has 2 star rating that shouldn't put you off. I only take into account star ratings when it comes to potential.

I would go the right attributes every day. Two players in the same position lets say right back. You need a really strong defensive right back.

You have two players to pick.

One has 3 star rating and 5 star potential.

One has 2 star current 3 star potential.

If the 2nd option has all the correct attributes you need and number 1 is brilliant going forward but terrible defensively. For what you need its a no brainer. However if they both have similar attributes I'd go for the higher potential one.

Hope that helped.

The star rating ability is a tool to help you decide, generated by an algorithm that takes into account the attributes the game considers important. It has no impact whatsoever on the game mechanics, it's just a helper.

So, yes, the answer is obvious: The attributes that you want to use for your style of play are always more important.

Edit: The question of potential is a completely different one, though.

Do you want a player who fits the position that you need right away as a first team member, or do you want a hot prospect who could, theoretically, develop into an even much better player within the next 4 years? That answer depends completely on your current situation in the game and your playing style.

Lol I don't even use scout because I use FM Genie scout and buy the best CA players possible in the realistic transfer targets. Sometimes the Assistant doesn't list some players in the realistic transfers but you can still sign them but hard to find.

LOL ,you cheat ,not the game ,but yourself.

With this logic why don't you put the players directly in your squad?

lol.. It is a game I bought, I will do whatever I want in the game. now get your face out of here.

You can call that all the people using FM Genie scout.
