Macon
I've done a search, and seen some suggestions that the game will avoid having red shirts vs orange, or yellow vs orange. But does it care about shorts and sock colours at all? And for shirts, does it avoid clashes with foreground and background colours in ALL styles, or just ones where the foreground colour gets used a lot (such as stripes)? Is outline ignored when assessing clashes? And colour of shirt number? I'd be grateful for any rules which people have managed to work out...
michaeltmurrayuk
If you mean cases of where you have only added new 2D and/or 3D kits then the game has no idea what colour these are and will treat colour clashes the same as the default kits (i.e. if you change Man Utds hom kit from red to blue then the game will still count them playing Liverpool as a clash but won't count Chelsea as a clash as it has no idea you have given them a blue kit). If you have changed the actual colours set in the database via either of the editors then the game will treat them the same as the default kits (assuming you have set the database colours to match the actual kits you are using). Regarding how the game actually determines if two kits clash it is complicated and will be based upon colours, shade, pattern (with pattern determining whether secondary or trim colours are important) aswell as what kits the other team has. The game will also change clashing shorts and socks if a team has alternative ones set, I don't think shirt number is used for clashing. There is no public information on how exactly the game determines what is and isn't a clash, though the system is fine tuned with each patch (so log any clashes you come across in the bugs forum) I'm also pretty sure some of the edge case clashes are set manually by SI. Though if you look in the editor there is a kit selection option for each team that lists what kits they will play in against the other teams in their league (I don't think you can actually modify these settings) which will give you an idea of what the game will class as a clash. Macon
Thanks, michael - that's really helpful. The last sentence in particular is very interesting, and I will do some investigations.
