Creating a tactic to focus on a box finisher.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Iam focusing on building a tactic that relies on having a pure number 9 box finisher, players like Fillipo Inzaghi.

Im thinking that something along the lines of...

41212

41221

433

to a lesser extent a 442...

with the 41212 i would set up like this,

GK (D)

FB(S)

CD(D)

CD(D)

FB(S)

RG(S)

B2B(S)

CM(D)

EG(A) PPM of Killer balls

DF(S) Running wide with the ball

P(A) This guy will be the box player and PPM of Box finisher

TI

will be control, slow passing, early crosses, pass into space (maybe not though)

@Cleon, do you think that the enganche and regista will be compatible in the same team?

Instead of asking me questions why not try them out and see? Or you tell me why they wouldn't work in the same team?

If you want to use a poacher in any shape or formation the key is to getting people to create the movement for him. A poacher isn't that expansive with his game but has the potential to score lots of goals if you can sort out the movement and create space for him and provide him with the proper supply.

Well i cant tell you why as im currently not at home. It was just an idea, and I thought you would be interested in the idea. Sorry buddy!

I think you miss my point. You need to ask yourself why currently you think it wouldn't work? Even though your not at home, you still asked if they'd work together and be compatible. So this suggest you already have an idea of how it would play or reasons for the doubts. My point was, why wouldn't they be compatible, what makes you think they won't be? It didn't mean I wasn't interested, it was more why are you thinking this way and asking me if something works or not when you can simply explain your reasoning for the doubts or better yet, try your ideas first then ask questions when you get the time :)

People tend to ask me a lot of questions straight off but never explain why they've got to the point of asking the question. I guess that's what I'm trying to get off you here. What I think doesn't matter as its not me playing your game so I'm trying to understand your way of thinking as that will be most helpful.

I didn't mean it as a bad thing when I did my first reply :)

Thats fine,

but the reason i didnt go into why i was questioning if they would be compatible is because i know you know that they are both specialist play making styles...therefor would be needless me explaining that.

So what im saying is, is that can two play making styles work together and NOT become incompatible?

IE will the Regista and Eganche play make from their sides of the pitch.. REG in my half Eng in their half?

Again though, why couldn't they play in the same side?

Doesnt having TWO playmaking style players cause imbalance?

Would the Regista move into spaces that may conflict with the EG?

I know the Regista will surpass the CM (D) well im more certain of that, but i wouldnt want the Regista and Eganche getting in each others way.

That is why Cleon said to try it out and see if that is what happens. So much can be different from club to club and match to match it is hard to just say. Purely theoretically, why would they get in each other's way? Your Enganche starts much higher up the pitch and operates in a different space. Beyond that, people post here with successful formations using two playmaking roles frequently.

I read somewhere that having too many playmaking roles in the same space of the pitch is often full of errors, Regista and Eganche both starting in the center of the pitch.

I was saying about the different spaces IE Reg in my half EG their half.. but i just wondered if the Reg would run into the same areas as the EG.

Im so sorry this thread has rubbed you the wrong way.. jesus lol.

No, they would not get in each others way because they operate in different areas of the pitch. Cleon is right, the only way you are going to know for sure is if you try it out first.

You've not rubbed anyone up the wrong way. But you are missing the point every single person is trying to make :)

no im not, i know the point everyone is getting at me trying it out for myself and i know i could try it out... but i just wanted YOUR thoughts on the idea.

You seem to have a fantastic grasp of the ME, tactics, roles and how they operate ingame.

Forget this thread lol...pointless question anyways.

mods lock it please.
