Dirty Harry
Just prior to the transfer window ending I started a game, against my better inclinations (I couldn't wait though and I didn't expect my tactic to do so well), and now there is no way I can just give it up. However, I don't really want to continue playing without the fixes (although tbqh there is hardly any major bugs). What I want to know is, as my version of FM is these days updated via Steam, will I be playing with the the majority of fixes except the obvious January transfers in my save? Or will it still be playing with the bugs of wanting a contract and not wanting to sign it, the complaining of missing a training camp when they're on international duty, and some of the bigger AI gameplay ones? I'd rather make a decision on it than play on unsure any more. I've done so well though, and if the game doesn't automatically assume everything other than the database changes relevant to the January transfers, then it's torture to allow this kind of thing to happen and it needs to be dealt with. People have months to play before January, and you never know how well they're going to do.
HUNT3R
Fixes, except the database changes such as transfers and attribute updates, are usually save game compatible. So if you upgrade from 16.1 to 16.3.xxx, all or at least the majority of fixes will come into effect.
Dirty Harry
Ahhhh, awesome, thanks so very much. As for the January transfers I'm assuming the outlook that they don't happen until January in the real world, so if I had taken over the club in the summer, then they wouldn't happen as prescribed. Therefore it doesn't matter so much about missing out on them, if it matters at all. The point is, thinking along these lines, I assume it is relatively easy to find for future games a database without the January transfers? I know it probably doesn't sound like it (especially this early in the morning and minus wake up coffee and cigarettes), but I've been playing FM ever since the Eidos/SI split (prior to that CM2 97/98 onwards) and have never gotten round to thinking about the Jan transfers properly. Always assumed it made it more realistic having them in, but in many ways it doesn't. You don't happen to know if there is any drive to setting up future transfers for the Jan window, do you? Ones to be active when you start a new game post Feb 1st IRL. There are others that are set up in game if they have been set up during the summer. So I don't see why it can't be done. I may have got the wrong end of the stick but it sounds like the first thing you're asking is whether the January transfers from real life happen in January on the game. Is that right? If that is what you're asking then no that doesn't happen. The players that moved in January start the season at their new clubs.
Dirty Harry
Apologies for the long winded early morning rant. Was still hung over, time off and all that. What I meant was is there a good database to download that doesn't have the January transfers included in it? Also, to anyone's knowledge is there anything in the works to have the January transfers set up so they go through halfway through the season, as opposed to being there at the beginning? There are always some transfers set up to go through in the future, from dealings that have taken place prior to the game's release. So I don't see why the same couldn't be done for the Jan ones. It would be the closest approximation to reality that you could get, imo anyway.
