2015: Ascenso!

Primera B Nacional - CHAMPIONS (Promoted)

tab1_zps21cvfeg4.png

We entered the season as one of the favourites for promotion, after the club had just suffered relegation from Primera A. The idea was to remain solid on and off the pitch and we managed that, conceeding just 27 goals and retaining the squad with no players leaving during the campaign.

The race for promotion itself came down to the wire and thanks to Santamarina imploding in the final 2 weeks of the season, we managed to clinch promotion with a win at home against Chacarita Juniors.

A surprise loss to a team in the lower reaches of Argentinian football. We held the lead, lost it and went on to bottle it in the shootout.

Nothing overly spectacular if im honest, 38 year old Keeper Gaston Losa kept 18 clean sheets which set the tone for our season. Wideman Leonel Di Placido placed in the Primera B team of the year and probably contributed the most of the first team squad.

Goals as you can see were sparse, Vazquez with 12 and Olego 10, the only players to hit double figures. Whilst young Julian Fernandez clocked up a staggering 18 yellows and 4 reds, as the teams firecracker in the middle of the park.

Transfers

Not alot to see here, mainly as we struggled financially due to some of our players retaining 'Primera A' level deals. However we managed to keep the squad together and added a solitary signing as Lemos added cover to our defensive unit.

Primera A - 30th (Relegated)

primera16_zpsfeoypaku.png

Its pretty clear to see why we failed to stay up from the table, just 19 goals scored is a dire return in all honesty. We did start the season on fire and topped the table after winning our first 2 games of the season, but from there it just proved too much for us to compete.

With Argentina employing a 'Average Points' system to decide the relegation places, we had a chance going into the final game to remain in the division, however even though we beat Argentinos Juniors, we left it too late to save ourselves and slipped back from whence we came.

Finally a 'Clasico' for the fans, but not the outcome we wanted as although we had home advantage, our lack of goalscoring threat ensured a defeat for El Albo.

Best Eleven

best16_zps4y4f2jiy.png

Best can often be subjective and that has to be the case here. Olego led the team with 6 goals... whilst our loan signings (expected to contribute more) mustered just 3 between them as they failed to ignite the team as needed.

Gaston Losa had one last run in the top flight, before he would retire, however with the team shipping over 50 goals it wasnt the swansong he had hoped for.

Transfers

tran16_zpsn9om2mbb.png

Financially things were a big problem for us. In essence we were not ready for promotion as mounting debts would ensure a $0 transfer budget and a cutback in our wage structure. In the end, thanks to a fair few deals running out and the sale of Martinez for over $500,000, we were able to bring in a pair of loans. Mussis and Pizzini came from big clubs with big expectations to help carry the team in our return to the top division.

Heartbreak as we miss out on a playoff place by mere goal difference. Infact if we were to look at our last game of the season, an 8-goal swing (ie us beating Instituto 8-0) would have saw us go above them into the top 5. We raced out of the traps and actually led 5-0 with 30 minutes to play... however a pair of late goals denied us and in the end, we can only blame ourselves for a slow start causing our problems.

Some positives this year, notably on the goal-scoring front. Mazzeo came from the youth system to bang in 17 and look the part as he formed a good partnership with the ageing Olego. Behind them Guerra, Becker and Di Placido all contributed more, whilst Julian Fernandez came back to prominence to collect more cards, bringing him to a 3 year total of 50 yellows and 7 reds.

Transfers

tran17_zpsabmyj2r7.png

Ironically we were in a better position this year than we were in Primera A. A big sale of Vazquez to Mexicans 'Leon saw us finally get a budget to play with, which we immediately invested into wages to bring in a clutch of players released from Primera A clubs.

Our wage bill is probably unsustainable based on our income (without sales), but it was a gamble we had to take in order to bolster the squad in terms of quality.

b18_zpscosbhz4u.png

It couldnt have gone any worse, well it could if we had fallen into the relegation places, however from being contenders to bottom feeders was hard to take. In reality relegation wasnt on the cards thanks to our previous seasons ensuring our points average was around the middle of the league, but we failed to make any sort of impression and just waned in a season to forget.

Of our 9 league wins, 2 came in the final 2 games as we collected enough points to ensure we didnt finish bottom of the table for the season.

Monserrat proved to be an inspired addition to the club and he is way to good to be plying his trade at the Islas Malvinas. However arguably without his contribution, we may well have been worse off.

Cavallin paid back part of his signing fee by scoring 7 times as he forged a nice partnership up top with Vazquez, whilst our replacement loan signings fitted in well and helped tick things over.

Transfers

tran18_zpsxvspiit7.png

The big stories here are our sales of both Stefano Brundo and Julian 'El Leon' Fernandez, as their fees bought in over $4m to the club. Again we re-invested what we could and Sebastian Cavallin became our first 'cash' signing in a $400,000 move from Lanus. We also added a pair of young loanees again to bolster the ranks and test the waters with potential future targets.

Primera B Nacional - 4th (lost in Promotion playoffs)

b19_zpsopw55zve.png

It looked like being a repeat of last season as we struggled desperately to find consistency and at times looked like we could be in for a relegation fight. However a run of 8 wins in our last 10 games propelled us up the table and with it being close once again, our final day win 4-1 at Gimnasia (Jujuy) squeezed us into the playoffs and a shot at getting back into Primera A.

po19_zpskgduorif.png

In the playoffs we faced Barracas Central and as they were the last team to beat us this season, we knew it would be tough. Unfortunately we failed to do ourselves justice and slipped out thanks to a pair of 1-0 defeats, ending a promising season on a desperate low.

For the first time in 5 years we look to have put together a pair of strikers able to find the net. Mazzeo and Cavallin combined for 30 goals as we turned the corner, Mazzeo scoring in 7 of the final 10 games.

Behind them all was the inspired loan signing of Pablo Sequeira, who came in for a season from Independiente and anchored our defensive efforts. Finally once again Fabian Monserrat proved to be our player of the season, as he contributed 10 more goals from midfield and is fast becoming a cult figure amongst the fanbase.

Transfers

tran19_zpsl38dmdzj.png

Once again sales kept the club afloat as we raked in over $1m from 4 deals. Coming in we again spent as Fede Varela returned to Argentina from a brief spell with Porto, whilst we would also add in a few loans and free transfer deals to help strengthen the squad.

2020: All Boys a Primer'A'

primerab_zpsxffrvjfl.png

Primera B Nacional - 3rd (Promoted via Playoffs)

b20_zpsy6x32n3q.png

A funny old year for us where consistency lacked in nearly every aspect of our performance. We managed to win 20 games, but lost 16 times as we would go week to week on the back of a win-loss run. In the end with the division once again being tight and decided by the merest of margins, we did enough to squeeze into the playoff places for the 2nd year in a row, this time by a point.

bpo20_zpsbxftwkam.png

After losing out at this stage last time round, we made sure we would take no chances and everyone finally found some form at the right time. We would dispatch Gimnasis (Jujuy) with ease, winning both legs for a 6-1 aggregate pasting.

Then in the final against near rival' Atlanta, we would go to their ground and all but secure promotion with a healthy 3-1 win. The return at a soldout Isla Malvinas saw us hold firm and grind out a decisive 0-0 draw. Promotion for the 2nd time in my reign was secured and we will get another shot at the Primera next time round.

copaarg_zpsiwmhltpt.png

Copa Argentina - 5th Round

copa20_zpsqrtgwc6m.png

Double disappointment here as not only have we lost once more in the 5th round of the Copa, but this time it was to our great rival as Nueva Chicago edged us in the first Clasico between the teams in 4 years.

copa20_zpsqrtgwc6m.png

To some it was just a Copa game, but to us it should have meant more as we faced Nueva in 'El Clasico'. On the day they had too much for us, so for the 2nd time in my tenure, we have lost by the odd goal to 'El Torito'.

Best Eleven

best2o_zpsfqg6eqkl.png

For the first time we have a bunch of players that cant be spoken highly enough of. First up lets thank Ezequiel Lavezzi for coming to the club for the final 6 months of the season. He retires after helping El Albo win promotion!

Looking at the rest, we have homegrown Emmanuel Carrera (
known as El Puma
) who at 18 broke into the team and notched 10 goals whilst attracting the notice of the big clubs in the country. Then having spent a fortune on Holan and Del Castillo, they would repay the faith shown in them combining for over 30 goals and spearheading our surge.

At the back, Facundo Tevez took the captains armband and marshaled the back 4, whilst Caprio who came in on a free transfer would keep 14 clean sheets and offer invaluable experience.

Transfers

tran20_zpspqhyjccs.png

We gambled here, it was a case of having too or potentially stagnating. To that end, all the money we had bought in over the past 5 years was thrown at 2 key signings. First Ignacio Holan, a young forward from Estudiantes signed for a record breaking $4m, as he was seen as the key to leading the front line.

Then on the same day we managed to confirm the deal to bring in Gaston Del Castillo from Independiente for $2.4m, another attacking player, though this time with more creativity in his pocket. Financially we are in a hole for around $4m of the $6.5m we spent, so success needs to be sustained in order to maintain our debts.

primera_zpsjcqy2n3b.png

Primera A - 28th (Relegated)

A21_zpsvs4wgsuy.png

Once again we last just the solitary season in the top flight as 'Average Points' gets the better of us. In all honesty we threw it away as going into the mid-season break we were comfortable in mid table and a similar run of form to end the season would have put us in the Pre-Sudamericana and a chance to qualify for continental football.

In the end we picked up a meager 5pts from 15 games, including losing our last 10 fixtures on the bounce. Our miserable slump was compounded not only by a home loss to Nueva Chicago in El Clasico, but also by a romping off Boca Juniors (7-2).

A season and a squad that promised so much is now in tatters, we will sink back into Primera B with a bank debt of $2m and a gaggle of players chomping at the bit to leave Islas Malvinas for good.

Copa Argentina - 6th Round

COPA21_zpsl94xka8l.png

NEUVA21_zpsss8uhwwq.png

If there is a positive from this season, its that we are unlikely to face Nueva Chicago again, as for the 3rd straight meeting, we come out on the wrong end. Holan did give us the lead, but 2 late goals from 'El Torito' ensured the 21000+ crammed into our ground would leave unhappy.

Best Eleven

BEST21_zpsphbtzktj.png

Its sad having to look at this 'XI' as I know that at least half of the team will be ripped apart, both to consolidate debts and in preference of the players. Interest is already rife in Carrera and Holan, but its no surprise given how well they adapted to Primera A this year.

Del Castillo disappointed in an injury hit year, whilst the rest of the squad looked mediocre at best and were unable to help turnaround our horrific run of form.

Transfers

TRAN21_zps7ga15fja.png

What money the club had, we spent last season in order to get promotion. To that end we looked at the loan market and promoted a few of the kids from the youth setup. 2 players joined on loan, Sanchez would be a prominent figure in midfield.

On the flipside I was able to keep the squad together with only fullback Gaston Garcia taking the money and running off to Chile.

We were fantastic, the context of it was; we had lost just twice in the opening 31 fixtures, amassing a sizable 13pt lead at the top of the table. At no point did we look like we wouldnt win the title, let alone promotion... then...

4pts and 5 defeats from our next 7 games changed everything. From front-runners we were in a position of hoping Los Andes would slip. We managed to collect 3 wins from our last 4 games, but the damage had been done, our goal difference had taken a hit and as the final whistle went in our last game (3-2 win over Crucero del Norte) our fate had been decided and we were condemned to the playoffs on goal difference.

bplay22_zpsrvvgoftf.png

It would only get worse. We would crash out 5-2 on aggregate to Sportivo Belgrano and all our hard work would get washed away in tears of despair.

Probably the best team ive been able to put together in my 7 years at 'Albo' yet we failed to achieve our primary goal and will need to reboot and get ready for another slog in Primera B next time round.

The team thrived on the new acquisitions; Moyano conceded just 40 goals and kept 15 clean sheets as he claimed the No.1 jersey off Caprio, whilst in front of him Tevez and Paradiso stayed with the club to continue their solid partnership.

In midfield things looked alot better as the return of 'El Leon' gave us that bite we needed, infact he managed to break his and the leagues record for poor discipline, racking up 24 yellows and 4 reds in 39 appearances! Creativity came from Carrera who gave us another year, whilst the addition of Pizzatti changed our dynamic as he notched 13 goals and 11 assists.

Up top we relied on Del Castillo and the loan signing of 17 year old Matias Gatti (Independiente) to lead the line. They would share a 26 goal partnership, 12 of which coming from the young man.

Our additions here made a huge difference as we had signed 3 players on pre-contract deals assuming we would still be in Primera A. Fortunately they were happy enough to remain with the club in Primera B and as such, Moyano, Fernandez and Pizzatti all proved pivotal to the squads fortunes.

Alongside them and to replace Ignacio Holan ($5m to Al-Sadd), we loaned in teenage sensation Matias Gatti from Independiente.

primerab_zpsxffrvjfl.png

Primera B Nacional - 2nd (Promotion via playoffs)

b23_zpszcksfuvt.png

Facing another season in Primera B, we manage to race out of the blocks again, this time topping the table through most of the 1st half of the season before a mini slump allowed the chasing pack to close the gap.

Eventually 2 teams come to the fore, us and Talleres Cba. We would swap places at the top through the final weeks, before going into the penultimate game with us travelling to Talleres for a must win fixture. Unfortunately we would cough up a 2 goal lead and wind up drawing 2-2 to give up our hopes of winning the title once more. A devastating blow that ensured we would face the lottery of the playoffs once more.

play23_zpsmtuy9fzd.png

Into the playoffs then and this time we would cruise past our semi final opponent Juv. Antoniana, winning both legs and looking comfortable across the 180 minutes. However the final would be a different story...

We would pair off against Patronato (recently relegated from Primera A) and looked odds on to clinch promotion as we romped home 3-1 in the away leg. Back home at Islas Malvinas, a full house expected nothing less than a party...

However nerves took over and before the half was up, we trailed 2-0 and the tie was all square on aggregate. The 2nd half proved even tighter, however a disputed disallowed effort in the 79th minute let us off the hook, as Patronato believed they had won the tie (and promotion) there and then.

There would be no more scoring and off to penalties we would go. Patronato would blink first as they wound up missing their first 2 spot kicks. Mazzeo would then miss for us as the shootout remained alive, but when Pereyra stepped up to take Patronato's 5th attempt, Moyano proved to be the hero as he clawed the ball away to start the party and send us back up to Primera A once more!

Matias Roskopf is all that we need to say here. A free agent signing after his release from Boca, Roskopf ignited our season like no other and would bang in 21 goals en route to winning the Primera B 'Maximo Goleador'.

It would be unfair not to name others though as we had another fantastic season; Moyano again sold between the sticks and claiming 15 more clean sheets. In defence we can thank our 2 loan signings of Jendrulek and Silva for slotting in quickly to our system.

Carrera again shone in the middle, whilst Matias Gatti who signed for a 2nd year on loan would show his versatility to slot into various roles throughout the campaign. 'El Leon' lived up to his name once more, breaking yet more records as he had the honor of 23 yellow and 5 red cards for the season.

'El Leon breaks records (and legs)

Fernandez is less animal and more butcher!

Arguably the heart of the current All Boys side, Julian Fernandez is in his 2nd spell with the club after leaving in 2018 for Rosario Central in a $2.7m deal.

Before leaving for Rosario, Fernandez made his name with the Floresta team thanks to his hard tackling approach in the teams midfield. Its a trait that he retained on his return, continuing to add to his unenviable disciplinary record that has seen him rack up a record number of cards.

His record from the past season saw him pick up 25 yellow cards and 5 red cards, a record like no other. You can add 3 more red cards
achieved
in 7 friendlies as well, as nothing can quell the bite in 'El Leons tackle.

Fernandez, who has just turned 28, will lead All Boys into their 3rd season in Primera A under the current management and he will be hopeful of helping the team finally survive after 2 failures.

However if All Boys are to finally avoid a relegation fight, it may be best if 'El Leon remains on the pitch and available for every fixture, rather than clock up yet more suspensions and time in the stands.

After facing relegation in our previous 2 efforts in Primera A, we were rightly skeptical about our survival chances at the 3rd attempt. However we needn't have worried as a solid season, scarred by a minor blip through the middle, saw us finish a respectable 19th and on the fringes of qualifying for Liguilla Pre-Sudamericana.

Going forward we looked comfortable as our attacking players made an easy transition to top flight football, scoring 50 goals that included a 5-0 romp over Estudiantes (LP) and a stunning 5-3 win over eventual Champions Boca Juniors.

Strangely the game has failed to produce a 'Best XI' again

Lets get the obvious out of the way, Fernandez in an injury blighted campaign collected just 13 yellows and 3 reds (including 1 on opening day) as he curbed his enthusiasm a touch.

Outside of that we relied on the goals of Roskopf, Mazzeo, Del Castillo and Carrera as they all hit double figures in impressive efforts. At the back the team was anchored by 3 loan signings as we still have more work to do in order to improve on the 50 goals shipped.

Transfers

ALL BOYS - 'EL ALBO'

2025: Muchachos a los Hombres!

Primera A - 10th

a25_zpsga9gviiz.png

This season proved to be everything we needed as we found our feet in Primera A and wound up placing in the top 10. We had started even better, winning 5 of our opening 8 and sitting nicely in the top 5, however a minor blip put paid to that and essentially put us at our level.

Results soon picked up again though, a 6-0 win at San Martin (SJ) proving to be the highest scoring affair, whilst our 2-0 win over Nueva Chicago (on their own patch) saw us finally win in El Clasico. Our season would end with us picking up 16pts from a possible 21 as we surged into 10th place, earning us a place in Liguilla Pre-Sudamericana and a chance to qualify for continental competition.

pcs25_zpshjh1jzce.png

We would cruise past Def. de Belgrano in the semi final, albeit scoring just a solitary goal. Then in the Final our 3-2 win at Independiente had us dreaming of qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana with the home leg to come. Alas we would get overawed by the occasion and with 10 minutes left, Independiente would score their 2nd and the decisive goal of the tie and leave us coming up short.

Unfortunately our finances are looking bleak and we probably needed qualification to help make a dent into our $3m debt. Our youth facilities are being upgraded, but the reality is, we are spending near on $500,000 per month on wages, more than we can recoup with attendances of around the 15000 mark.

Copa Argentina - 6th Round

copa25_zpsyo0cbdfo.png

A 6 goal romp over Primera B 'Excursionistas set us up to meet 'El Torito in the 6th round. Once again we would take the tie all the way and once again we would lose on penalties as the seasons first 'Clasico went the way of our foe.

We would finally get one over Nueva Chicago by winning at their ground 2-0 in an impressive effort. However the honours were even this season as although we drew 0-0 in the Copa Argentina, they would celebrate a penalty shootout victory to progress.

Another ex-Boca striker proved to be the highlight of our season as Daniel Moreno stepped in to spearhead the team and score 17 goals, as he instantly clicked with Del Castillo and Roskopf.

Once again our loan signings proved crucial as Silva and Jendrulek completed their 3rd year on loan at the club as part of a solid defensive core. Whilst 18 year old Paschetta did his 2nd tour and stood out as one of the most exciting prospects in Argentina today.

Carrera and Pizzatti continued to orchestrate the midfield, with both on the brink of international recognition and facing temptations from Europe throughout the campaign.

Finally, 'El Leon may be mellowing with age, collecting just 4 yellows in 11 starts, as another campaign hindered by injuries left him watching on more than he would like.

Transfers

tran25_zpssduupp7l.png

Di Placido came home after a brief spell away, adding valuable experience to the squad. Moreno would prove to be the signing of the season as he dominated the scoring charts. Millar and Russo would add vital competition and depth to our midfield, whilst our only cash signings saw Sequiera return to the club (he was on loan for a year in 2019) as we tempted him with first team football.

Glad you managed to keep them up this time  Must have took a lot of patience with promotion - relegation - a couple of seasons in B - Promotion - Relegation again - a couple more seasons in B before promotion so good to see things going right for you this year

Thanks mate, yeah we had yo-yo'ed between the leagues and it has been a struggle to get stability on and off the pitch. Things are turning the corner though and with the Average Points system, once you have a couple of good years in a row, it gives you a little breathing space should things go sour one year.

The next challenge is to kick on a try to qualify for Continental competition.

ALL BOYS - 'EL ALBO'

2026: Estabilidad!

primera_zpsjcqy2n3b.png

Primera A - 15th

a26_zpsggjo6pyr.png

Although we should be happy to be a part of Primera A, I can only feel a little disappointed that the team decided to remain on holiday after our mid-season break. Up to that point we had been fantastic and firmly ensconced in the top 5 places. Wins at San Lorenzo and Newells had set us up as a team ready to surprise the league this time round.

Then we came back from the break and everything fell apart. We would win just 3 more times, once in El Clasico as we turned over Nueva Chicago, but it was the 9 defeats that put paid to any chance of us having some success.

pcs26_zpsnp4rq8yr.png

Our shot at qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana came to an abrupt end at Belgrano. We turned up on a hiding to nothing and somehow survived until half time, even though our hosts had 22 efforts (12 on target). The 2nd half saw little change, however this time Belgrano took one of their chances and that would be that, a disappointing end to a promising season.

Copa Argentina - 7th Round

copa26_zps7yji3fny.png

Frustration sums up our efforts in this years Copa Argentina. Of course we have to be delighted to go nap on Boca Juniors (albeit a weakened side) and go on to reach the last 16, however once there, we blew a great chance to progress to the Quarter Finals by losing to a struggling Villa Dalmine.

A club our size wont get many chances to succeed in this sport and this one will be classed as 'the one that got away'.

nueva26_zpsham45g2h.png

A thumping of our rival as we put 3 past them, could've been 6. This win also helped us finish above them once again, thats 3 years on the spin, as we are beginning to exert ourselves.

Best Eleven

best26_zpsnawtngr9.png

Roskopf and Moreno finally clicked as a pair this year, combining for 24 goals, however they did most of their damage before the mid-season break, as the team appeared to go to sleep on our return.

The usual suspects live up to their billing with Carrera and Pizzatti still pulling the strings. Whilst 'El Leon again impressed as he appears to be maturing with age and in his role at Captain.

One to note for the future may be Brian Ricca, the young forward earned a call up to the 1st team squad this year and his record of 4 in 8 is a sound return in a difficult year.

Transfers

tran26_zps6xeck5bm.png

Financially we had to cash in on a couple of players, the main one being Antonio Millar, who had his release clause triggered by FC Kobenhavn and moved on to Europe after just 1 year at Albo. We then raked in another $1m by selling fringe player Solferino to Gimnasia (Jujuy) taking us out of the red and allowing me a little freedom in the market.

Coming in we again loaned Silva from Rosario, thats 4 years on the spin. Whilst we also added loan deals for a pair of defenders in Monti and Delorenzi. Our 2 permanent deals saw us bring in a Costa Rican keeper in Rodriguez, whilst young Argentine midfielder Villanueva added a bit of substance to the squad.

2027: Estancamiento!

primera_zpsjcqy2n3b.png

Primera A - 19th

a27_zpswrr7go8s.png

You know what? We were top and we were good for it, thats our claim to fame this year as after 8 games we led the league with 19pts on the board. Not only that, of our 6 wins we had beaten El Torito in the years Clasico (3-1) and also stuffed River Plate 3-0 at home in probably the best performance we have given in my tenure at the club.

Alas that was that, we would then lose 5-1 at Boca, 7-2 at Velez and proceed to lose (including those 2 games), 9 of our next 12 and slump down the table. A brief respite in results saw us put enough on the board to hang around the Liguilla Pre-Sudamericana places, but a run of just 1 win in our final 6 games left us clinging on in the end.

pcs27_zpstph0q7yq.png

Fortunately we did manage to squeeze in this year, however we probably wished we hadn't as Colon put down the hammer and tattooed us for 4, as another season ends with a sour taste.

copaarg_zpsiwmhltpt.png

Copa Argentina - 6th Round

copa27_zps8umi2rta.png

The excitement of the Copa never lasts long round these parts and as sure as the sun comes up in the morning, we would crash out relatively early again as Racing ended our run in the 6th round.

El Clásico All Boys - Nueva Chicago

smallallobys_zpsxlc1thyq.pngnueva_zpsz2tbseja.png

W 3 D 2* L 3

nueva27_zpsa4mil8tw.png

Fortunately we were in great form when Nueva came to town, so infront of a sellout Islas Malvinas, we turned on the style and beat our great rival 3-1.

Best Eleven

best27_zpsg3wfvkoq.png

Defensively things have been an issue for us as we have often relied on loaned players to fill in gaps we are unable to do so permanently. This again caused us a problem this year as with Sequeira forcing our arm in the transfer market, we had to loan in 19 year old Boca Juniors keeper 'Geravano, who did well but was often exposed for his weaknesses.

Martinez, Carreno and Grgona all bought in to fill the gaps left at the back, rarely settled and their inconsistent efforts were part of the reason we shipped a league high of 55 goals.

Going forward we still looked as good as ever (even without Moreno), Roskopf hit double figures again, whilst Del Castillo came back to prominence to top score with 15 goals. Brian Ricca and another youth project in Rene Mac Allister had their chance, but in all honesty failed to live up to the expectation put on them, scoring just 6 times between them.

Transfers

tran27_zps79qtkoaj.png

This is where 'just surviving' can hurt the team, as although its great we are now a regular in Primera A, our better players want a bit more. To that end, Daniel Moreno engineered his move to Brazil and Goias, whilst Sequeira ensured we had no choice but to cash in when BATE and Europe came calling.

Coming in, again we had to use the loan market and scrabble about for free transfers. Alderete from Independiente looks to be the real deal, whilst the other deals just helped add depth and experience to a squad that is slowly losing its quality.

All Boys salute to 'El Puma

Diminutive midfielder is a legend in Floresta!

When a player comes through the system its only natural for them and the fans to become attached to one another. For All Boys, they have this player as Emmanuel Carrera (El Puma to his followers) has just finished his 10th season with the club, still aged just 25.

The midfielder who stands at a mere 5'5", first played for the team at age 16, making 2 substitute appearances in the 2019 season, before finally breaking through a year later as he helped
Albo
gain promotion from Primera B. His performances in Primera A gained him recognition and the club and player would be tempted by outside offers, however both stood firm and have since been repaid by the success All Boys have had in Argentina's top tier.

With just 1 U20 cap for his country, Carrera has yet to break through on the International scene. However his 240 appearances for All Boys, sets him as one of the most experienced members of the squad. As the teams current Vice Captain, he has won the clubs 'Fans Player of the Year' award for the past 8 seasons, no mean feat given some of the performances of players past and present.

Carrera is currently tied down for another 3 years with El Albo, but im sure that his manager and fans alike will be hoping that El Puma will still be on the prowl for the team for many years after that.

ALL BOYS - 'EL ALBO'

2028: Perdiendo Esperanza!

primera_zpsjcqy2n3b.png

Primera A - 26th

a28_zpszeqxopy1.png

A season reminiscent of how things used to be for the club as we hang around the foot of the table for the whole campaign, albeit not really in relegation trouble due to the average points system.

We started the season losing 7 and drawing 1 of our first 8 fixtures. A brief respite with wins coming every other week lifted us from the foot of the table, but we continued to lose on a regular basis, conceding 62 times as we lost 17 times.

A big concern is our away form as we won just the once and picked up 4pts from our travels, a miserable return and something we have to improve on as next season a repeat of this form will see us in serious trouble.

copaarg_zpsiwmhltpt.png

Copa Argentina - 6th Round

copa28_zpspbdwvpua.png

We progress on penalties and then loss on penalties as we chuck away a chance of progressing past Gimnasia (LP) by conceding in the 90th minute, before failing from the spot.

El Clásico All Boys - Nueva Chicago

nueva28_zps0uo8fxvn.png

Our run of beating El Torito for 3 straight years in the league came to an abrupt end, as although we took the lead, we never looked likely in going on to win the game. Nueva now have the edge on us and we are now looking over our shoulders and a potential fight against the drop next time round.

Best Eleven

bst28_zpszpii4d28.png

Financially we are struggling. Our wage bill is way to high for the club to sustain and the end result is that we are now $4m in debt, with no clear way in how to clear it.

This meant that the team barely changed and it showed by some of their performances as we struggled for consistency across the board. Del Castillo (for some reason shown in midfield above) paired up with Roskopf, yet neither hit double figures. Whilst Pizzatti again impressed as he generally does, by top scoring with 12 efforts.

Defensively we are in a mess, our 2 loans are young players from Boca but neither are really ready for the step up to Primera quality, whilst those who are here on permanent deals are failing to impress and we are desperate to try and address that.

Transfers

tran28_zpsuoiuu18x.png

Luna came in on loan to join fellow Boca youth product 'Geravano and that was it in terms of new faces in the club. Going out, we allowed a bunch of players to leave as their contracts ran out. The only notable would be Rene Mac Allister, however he failed to impress when given the chance in our first team squad.

Hey, you're the guy that had the America Cali save, right? What happened to that one?

Bizarre pattern going on here in this career. I don't think many people here have experienced getting promoted twice with the same team in the same career, into the same division. :D Any ideas on what's causing inconsistency with results, it looks as if it's a bit 2 steps forward, 1 step back? Perhaps you're just keeping on losing your best players and struggling to replace them?

Any chance of a screenshot of Carrera, looks like a class player?

Oh dear a bit of a decline there but at least you stayed up. Hop next season goes better

Yeah its been tough trying to reach the next level. Financially the club relies on making a big sale (or combined) and we just havent been able to do that recently, so the level of player we can bring in, just isnt up to par.

Yeah thats me, I still have the save, but my favourite league to play in is Argentina and once I settled on a team here, its hard for me to switch across.

3 promotions, 2 relegation's as it stands. Its been fun, hopefully we can become established and just ride out a bad year or 2.

As for the reason, well I think the big problem is that we are unable to bring in players of the next level. Couple that with decrepit facilities and its pot luck if we get a talent or 2 from the system.

I will get a screenshot of Carrera on here soon.

Cheers for following lads.
