Injuries

Recommended Posts

Nearly half my squad have gone down with long term injuries (up to 3-5 months) and I'm now down to the bare bones. I know injury problems can be bad in real life but it's taking the enjoyment out of the game. If the injuries were spread throughout the season even to key players I wouldn't mind but at the start of the season is frustrating. This injury thing happens in almost every edition until rectified in the final patch. Come on si, get it together.

I have had one serious injury to a player in the past two seasons of my current save (and that to an aging player with known history of serious injuries). So it is not a bug, it is something you are doing.

Are you controlling your own friendlies so that you can ensure that your players are all getting enough game time to become match fit? It is not the most thrilling, but you will handle this better than your AM.

Are you playing unfit players for long periods of matches? I do not think I am wrong to say players with low match sharpness are more likely to get injuries. This means if you do not do pre-season prep in such a way to give all your players match fitness, or from rushing players back from injury.

Are you not rotating your squad so you play players of low condition? I am pretty sure the reason I am avoiding injuries is that I will avoid starting anyone with 95% condition or less if I can really help it. I will almost always avoid starting players below 90% unless I have no alternative. Lower condition means they end with lower condition, which means injuries.

What training are you doing? If you are seeing a lot of injuries in training, you should probably lower the intensity to avoid it (and really, if you have spotted this and not changed it, I have very little sympathy).

I hope that gives you some ideas of how to track down and eliminate the problem.

Hi sporadicsmiles, thanks for your input. I have my players do one week of high fitness training then let them work on other training aspects at an average intensity so I don't think it's my training. I do rotate the team so others get game time during preseason. I'm used to having the odd annoying long term injury but this getting beyond a joke.

I hate to bring up to the "T" word, but do your tactics include "stuck in" or "tight marking"? Might even be your opponents tactics, if they're a bunch of brutish thugs who abhor gentlemanly play. How's your pitch condition? In FM 16, I've been getting what I consider to be a fair number of injuries (even when they're inconveniently-timed), but even when I "instant-play" my matches and the match engine doesn't substitute as liberally as I might, I'm not seeing what I would consider "fatigue-induced" injuries, even when their match fitness isn't optimal.

One week of any training is pointless. Apart from that, you need to take into account the tactics you set up and the training. Then there's also the injury proneness of the players in question. Even then, you might just be unlucky.

Players on low condition are also more likely to get injured so watch out for that. Players with low match sharpness are also prone to picking up knocks.

Hunt3r I did one week of high intensity fitness because I noticed if I did two weeks my players would get injured. To be fair my prayers are beginning to cone back from training and I coped ok but boy was it infuriating. Honestly, I've noticed injuries are a problem until the game has a final patch then they're not so prominent.

You need to go to specsavers then, 'injuries' very rarely, if ever, are 'patched' in the final update. Usually because there's nothing wrong with them in the first place. You've had an injury crisis, that's all. It's part of football. Ask Louis Van Gaal or Steve McClaren.

For your training to have any noticeable effect, it would need to be for a minimum of 3 months. That's according to Cleon and he knows the module inside out.

Sounds like you had an unlucky spell.

Is it your training?

I don't know. Like I said I do one week high intensity fitness in first week of preseason. I didn't mention this, but I then do a month of tactical training on high intensity until the season starts. Am I not doing enough high intensity fitness training? I used to do two weeks in previous editions but since fm15 I've been getting injuries or players stamina going down quickly so I thought I was over exerting them.

You don't need to do any Fitness training in pre-season. Training will train attributes, nothing else.

If your players are getting injured IN training, it could be your training. It doesn't keep happening to you, so again, it may have been unlucky.

I find it strange that there's no need for fitness training during preseason considering the players will be back off their hols nod unfit. However I have noticed that the players are almost fit at the start save lacking match fitness. Maybe it's down to luck but considering it keep happening in my saves it has to be down to training. I'll have harder look and see what's the cause. Thanks for your help.

Fitness training doesn't build fitness. It trains attributes.

To get match fitness up, they need to be playing matches.

Wow! fitness training doesn't build fitness -- what a misnomer. No wonder some people are having trouble with the game, it's confusing. I think I understand what you mean, it helps to increase the stamina attribute. Again, thanks.

Fitness training aims to increase all attributes under the fitness section, a by-product of that can be a slightly improved ability to keep a high level of condition & match fitness but it will not improve the score given under those metrics on its own.
