BanOly
As mentioned in this post on the bug forum, since the 16.3 update Sports Interactive have deemed it a good idea to introduce ugly red circles in place of the once-beautiful background behind the country and club logos. As if to try as hard as possible to make matters worse, they also decided to make the club logo smaller. http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/453859-Player-Staff-Club-amp-Country-Icons-Pixilated-and-Weird-Colour-Background-Since-16-3-Update Is there any way to revert this back to its former glory? wkdsoul
I think you need to remove the appearance="buttons/custom/status round" from the xml or the graphics folder. its the non player profile xml. There is a line for both badges.
BanOly
I think you need to remove the appearance="buttons/custom/status round" from the xml or the graphics folder. its the non player profile xml. There is a line for both badges. And this won't mess with my game at all? I have no idea when it comes to skinning/graphics mods etc. Also I'd like to do this for player profiles as well. BanOly
Also, could you tell me the location of the .xml you're referring to?
wkdsoul
it'll be in the panels folder of your skin. if not use the resource archiver guide in the stickys to extract and amend.
BanOly
There isn't a Resource Archiver Guide in the stickies And I don't have a skin of my own, I'm just using the default. I'm 100% newb when it comes to using the Resource Archiver or any other kind of FM graphics-amending method. I was just re-directed here to get rid of that specific thing. BanOly
Right, got it. So what file am I extracting? Where will it be inside the "Football Manager 2016 / data" folder?
wkdsoul
when you open the data folder int he archiver, you will see the folder/list as graphics, panels etc. double click the panels and the archiver will list all the xmls that make up the game. look for the non player profile xml to change the page you want
BanOly
This was helpful, I got to where you were referring to but I don't know what to do with the amended file. I don't want to put it back where I got it, in case it messes up the game. How do I save it as a different 'test' skin? On a separate point, do you know how I can change the size of the club logo within the circle? Thanks for all your help so far
wkdsoul
No problem https://sites.google.com/site/michaeltmurrayuk/Skins/fm16baseskins base skin download, put the base skin in your FM16/skins folder, clear cache and reload game in the preferences, it will give you the option to switch to that skin in the dropdown, and you can play with the folders and files as you like in that one
BanOly
Awesome, thanks again! Think you pretty much told me everything I needed to know on how to make my own skins in like 5 minutes, so great job! haha
wkdsoul
No worries, the group here really helped me learn all this last year. Now i have a full working custom skin
BanOly
One more thing I don't get... I now have the skin in my skins folder. So if I go into the panels folder and extract the nonplayerprofile.xml or whatever, 1. Where do I extract it? I'm assuming I can't extract it inside the panels folder... or can I? 2. If I can't, do I put it back there after I'm done editing it? Thanks again for all your help so far
BanOly
Better question... I've just downloaded the base skin from the site you sent me, and there's no .xml files. Anywhere. The panels folder is empty?
wkdsoul
Extract it to a spare folder (so you have a default/master copy) Put a copy into the base skin panels folder, that can be the one you work on to show changes in game. As for the xmls, the FMSCOUT version of the base skin may have included some of the most frequently changed or basic for you to work on, you can gab them from that or extract them as needed using your newely acquired resource archiver skills
BanOly
Got it. So to clarify, I'm removing "appearance=buttons/custom/status round" from inside the "non player profile" xml file? Obviously I don't want to remove something that needs to be there
wkdsoul
yeah, you have a backup of the default file anyway so you're covered
BanOly
Think that's my cue to give up!

BanOly
Well it didn't come up with that error when I loaded it up, but the circles are still there.
wkdsoul
try taking out lines appearance="buttons/custom/status round" from line 113 and line 37. clear and reload sorry been awhile since i did this one .
BanOly
Line 113 and 37? You've lost me haha I tried removing appearance="buttons/custom/status round" in the two places it appears in the text file, and it didn't work.
wkdsoul
http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/444898-Need-help-with-skining?p=10620470&viewfull=1#post10620470 it should be the same as that as far as i can work out, but dunno why the first file didnt work, did you clear the cache, untick use caching and reload the base skin?
BanOly
Yeah, I never have cache ticked and I reloaded the skin.
BanOly
Using what you sent me, I did what they instructed for the players, then I did the exact same thing in the non player profile xml file. Didn't work.
BanOly
Never mind, I got it to work in the end thanks!
