Role Abiility vs RDS?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've played FM for many years (Since CM03 I think) but never been any good at it so get distracted and give up. I'm trying harder with 2016 :)

Anyway, I'm slowly picking things up but I don't really get the difference between the Role Ability star rating and the Role Duty Suitability green bar. They both seem to change with each other.

Can anyone help?

Star ratings show a comparison between that player and other similar players in your squad.

Role suitability bar is the AI's opinion of how well a player may be able to perform in a given role.

Personally I completely ignore all of that and focus on a players' attributes. If you (not the AI) think he has the right attributes to perform a role in your system, that is far more important than what the AI thinks. The AI just follows a generic "this is what role xyz needs", so is ok to give you an indication. Just don't rely on it.

Completely agree with the above - TO BE IGNORED - should be plastered all over it at this point - so often my best performers are supposedely totally unsuitable for the role's their excelling in.

Right up there with my assistant telling me to play more direct - (NO - WERE A SHORT PASSING TEAM AND WE'RE WINNING LOTS) - WHY WOULD I CHANGE MR ASSISTANT? I'm THE PUMPKIN KING not you ya part-timer.

Treat the in-game advice and graphical information like well-meaning suggestions from a clueless aunt. At best they distract from what's actually important, at worst they actively make the game harder if you listen.

I agree with the suggestions above that your assistant often talks nonsense. I was using Salah at left mid for a while, while training him there, because his pace and dribbling made him useful for it. He was playing well despite having only half a star of ability there - every game my assistant would say 'I think you need to use Salah in a more comfortable role' despite the fact he'd already assisted a goal and was clocking a 7.8 or something.

My favorite is when the AM suggests "Work ball into box" then a moment later suggests "pump ball into box".
