Need help with 4-4-1-1

Hello everybody,

I need some tactical advice regarding my 4-4-1-1 tactic:

I'm playing in standard mentality and fluid shape

My TI's are : Push higher up, play wider, more direct passing, look for overlap and more quickly tempo

Player instructions are like this :

AMs

Wa CMd APs Ws

FBs CDd CDd FBa

GKd

My team is unefficient in almost every aspect of play and in some games they are playing excellent and create many CCC and half chances and i still lose but in some games they don't even get enough shots on target. In 7 games i have 0 wins , 3 draws and 4 losses. I have tried to fit in some parameters that some experienced members have been posting, specially Cleon and i think I might not be too far to create working tactic but I think I need some help to get that

P.S. I'm playing with Hamburger SV if that means to you guys.

Your team lacks numbers in the opposition penalty area. CF-S, AM-S and AP-S all hang back a bit, especially with the look for overlap instruction.

You're playing direct football with the wingers very advanced, but they have no targets available to cross to early in play.

That's quite similar to my current set-up, but instead of an AM(s) I have a shadow striker (attack) - and the front two positions are offset to SCL and AMCR so it plays a little bit like a 4-4-2. The shadow striker works well playing off of the complete forward and getting into the box.

I realize that i dont have enough players inside box and i was considering to change AMs to AMa at least but AMs is perfectly compatible with my other 2 central midfielders. Changing other winger from Ws to Wa is also an option.

I think it's nice to have variety in wingers though, with one attack and one support.

My set-up looks like this:

Next season I might give the right back attack duty though, since I might be playing Florenzi there who's amazing, and I'm also debating whether to change Pjanic from DLP to AP, particularly against weaker opposition.

I have changed following things and its lot better now, and i have won 5 of the next 7 games. First of all i changed passing to short cause i conceded too many cheap goals cause of wrong passes, after that i changed AMs to EGa and i instructed him to move forward often. Now there is one player more in final third of the pitch and going in the box and my players aren't making stupid mistakes.

I have made few changes and its working pretty well at the moment. First of all i changed tempo to slow cause my players made too many cheap mistakes, specially defenders. Second thing i changed was AMs to EGa and added him forward runs so i can have additional player in final third as i have tried SSa in that role and it didn't work well as EGa.
