cmbjersland
I want to start new career with same manager name but I don't want my name to show up multiple times in the HoF. I have deleted all hall_of_fame.dat files I could find in my PC and restarted FM2016 but the HoF is not reset. In the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2016, the hall_of_fame.dat file keeps on coming back when I startup the game and the HoF is not reset it is still including my old HoF points and trophies. I also tried to reinstall FM2016 but still the same. I have removed folders after uninstalling (via Steam) and reinstalled a fresh version but still the old HoF data comes back from my previous saves. Is Steam backing it up somehow and restoring my old history every time I delete it? Please help I'm desperate to reset the HoF.
FrazT
I suspect that deleting your preferences folder ( instructions in the FAQ thread ) will clear out the HOF
cerud
I'm having the same problem. I deleted the preferences folder as suggested as well as the .dat file. Unfortunately, I still have the hall of fame info and I ended up deleting all of my custom views...hours of work to construct those. So, while I'm rebuilding all of my custom view, does anyone know how to reset the hall of fame for 2016? EDIT: So, I tried deleting the game and subsequent folders and redownloading from Steam. The hall of fame is still there!! How do I get rid of this thing?!?!
Administrators Neil Brock Posted May 18, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 18, 2016 The hall of fame is now tied into save games. The only way to 'delete it' as such, would be to deleting the file here - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2016\hall_of_fame.da then starting a new save game. cerud
Hi Neil and thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I tried that and it still did not work. I even uninstalled the game, deleted all saves, and reinstalled it. Still have this stupid hall of fame file as it was.

Hi Neil, Is this a recent change in FM16? I know that in FM13 the hall of fame never carried over to new PCs (unless you moved the .dat file yourself), so when I would win stuff on my laptop and then restore it back to my PC the hall of fame data file would be inconsistent. Has this issue been resolved now? I was looking to make a practical hall_of_fame.dat editor for this, but bumped into some obstacles. I had to open a hex editor and hack together my different hall_of_fame.dat files to make it as correct as possible. If it doesn't happen anymore than I won't bother pursuing it anymore.
