James9
Good Day FMers I want to set up a tactic which uses Gegenpressing. This type of pressing is all out like Klopp said heavy metal football. It will have an affect on the teams fitness. Could I get some advice on what Training focus I should used for my team during pre season and the full season. Guest
Getting your tactical setup & the right players is more important, pre-season training is just a simple matter of setting match prep to the max intensity & using the match tactics focus. General training is just a matter of focusing on abilities that you believe are important to effective counter pressing but that's a long term strategy. Pippadoc
I'd focus on fitness training during pre-season with a heavy workload to build stamina with your players. Once the season starts I would swap to a different focus depending on the needs of your squad and drop the workload down to light. The key is going to be keeping training relatively light during the season to give players time to recover between games, I guess you also need to rotate the squad a fair amount and may need to give players days off training if you want them to play twice in one week. Guest
Why would you think that pre-season is long enough to improve the squads fitness attributes? A lighter training load during the season is a good approach to take when using a high intensity playing style.

andrewsgn
What would you say should be my main focus to focus on for a effective counter pressing system. I'd probably focus on Tactical and Fitness. You also can't go wrong with Balanced. Cleon has a useful post here in which he lists the ideal attributes needed to play different types of systems: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/403153-Building-A-Tactic-From-The-Beginning-And-Maintaining-It-Long-Term?p=9935814&viewfull=1#post9935814 You need at least 3 months for the general training focus to have any benefit so don't change the focus after pre-season (unless you added a lot of new players and are using Team Cohesion in pre-season).
