Gee_Simpson
What role would he have played in FM terms, CF Attack?
Ö-zil to the Arsenal!
Yes, personally I would go for Complete Forward (Attack) or Advanced Forward (Attack).
Jean0987654321
What role would he have played in FM terms, CF Attack? Ronaldo was everything. CF (s) with Move Into Channels PI is enough
Gee_Simpson
Yeah, I thought maybe CF (A) or (S) because he was a great all round player, and decent in the air too.
skyline72
I would put him as CF(A)
yonko
I would say it depends on the set up. Lone striker or as part of a pair? His most interesting partnership was with Romario IMO. I think they were both Complete Forwards - one on Attack, the other on Support and switching.

ceefax the cat
CF for sure. A trademark of his was to drop deep to pick up the ball then basically skin everyone or at least draw a few defenders by turning and running frighteningly quickly at the defence, so probably support duty. No chance you'll get it to happen in FM because what he did would be considered irrational, low percentage behaviour by most strikers. For him, receiving the ball 45 yards out with space to turn constituted a goalscoring opportunity more or less. 2 or 3 times per game he'd drop into space and then scare the crap out of a couple of defenders on his way to maybe being tackled or blocked near the goal. Gee_Simpson
Thanks guys. It was between CF (A) and (S). I'll try CF (S) as it will suit my system well anyway.
Kawee
Barcelona Ronaldo can pull the CF stuff. I think Inter onwards, he's more of an advanced forward, since he was playing closer to goal and looking mainly to score goals. Wouldn't be right to see Ronaldo, especially the Madrid one, dropping deep and making through balls, all that often game after game.
ceefax the cat
He did drop deep a lot but it wasn't to play through balls, it was to get the ball at his feet so he could try to score. He'd also pull wide for the same reason - get the ball, suck defenders out of position and hopefully skin one or two en route to a shot

He was always highest up the pitch, relative to his team, IIRC. He also didn't dribble nearly as much as his Barcelona self. The injury took a toll on him He became a bit of a poacher, I thought. If Ronaldo was a poacher, he would have never been replaced with RvN by Capello
