Methos
If part of your tactic is to have a high defensive line and you don't want to change that and the opponent team exploits it, with through balls and pacey strikers. According to the above information, to counter their through balls, what attributes should your DCs have and in what order from most significant to least? Positioning, Pace, Acceleration, Concentration, Jumping Reach, Tackling, Anticipation. Trying to understand how the match engine simulates those cases. HUNT3R
You should be looking ahead of the DCs. The midfield should provide pressure on the opposition midfielders so that they don't have much time to pick passes/through balls.

What kind of defender do I want then?
lewis999
Anticipation, acceleration and concentration are the most important 3 in my opinion. You have to concentrate, you have to anticipate the pass and then you need the pace to get there.
HUNT3R
Ok, it must be inevitable that some through balls will go through. What kind of defender do I want then? Every situation will be different. If you put enough pressure on the midfielders, they won't have the time to pick out a proper pass, so these passes can be gobbled up by your defence. If the ball is through (past the defence) already, then mental attributes will not help much. There you need acceleration/pace. Mental attributes can help the defender react quicker, so that can help make up for it if he only has average quickness. Then again, with better mental attributes, the defenders will be better at stopping the balls going through in the first place. Either can work. If a player has very good mentals, he needs to be average as far as quickness goes. A defender with average anticipation/reactions can make up for it by being very fast. Ask AVB though - a high line with an very slow player isn't the best idea. There comes a point where a weakness is just too much.
