So, after a first season at Southampton, (11th in the league, QF League Cup, SF FA Cup, QF Europa League) I noticed in my inbox that Unai Emery had left Chelsea after 1/2 a season to take the Barcelona job and to my suprise I was the favourite to be offered the vacant position. So I left a fairly safe job to take up the most unsafe managerial hot seat in England. A difficult position as I'd just signed every one of my targets for The Saints to fit into my system, and with only 1 week before the close of the transfer window, Chelsea's squad was a bit bare, but with £110M to spend, Barkley, Tielmans, Stones & Conterao were snapped up and we got to work.

Come the end of the first season, and with Kante brought in during January, we finished with a 5th in PL, semi final LC, FA Cup Winners, Europa League Winners. Board were happy to win 2 trophies, but less than impressed with 5th, but still a new improved contract was signed, with a £140M transfer budget agreed. Close season saw the arrival of Bale & Pjanic and after 15 games we were 7 points clear, then....INJURY CRISIS!! 9. NINE players out injured. In a 433DM formation I lost my RB, DM, DLP, BBM, IF, LW and also the back up to the IF, LW and BBM, ALL with injuries that were 2 months plus of absence. This brought on a run of mediocrity, including 2-0 up at Bournemouth with 20mins to go, only to have my goalkeeper come of injured and Lukaku in goal to lose 4-2. Season ended with 4th in PL, Runner Up in LC, 3rd round FA Cup, Semi Final ECL.

Now we come to the crunch. 3rd season. Transfer Budget: £7M. % of sales retention: 20%. I sell £140M worth of players (Lukaku, Zouma, Conterao and the fringe reserves who are worth £8-£10M each) but with a bank balance of £250M, no budge on releasing extra cash. So now came time to stick it to Roman...

Mourinho took the England job. Man Utd vacancy...my plan was to apply, get an interview and then leverage this to get a better budget at Chelsea. So, interview...no message from Chelsea...request for backroom changes...still no message from Chelsea. Contract offered from Man Utd and they pay £18.25M to take me from Chelsea. £170M budget. So now I decide to stick it to Chelsea and sign Pogba & Neymar for £110M & £115M (staggerd payments obviously).

7 games into the new season and Man Utd top with 6 wins and 1 draw. Chelsea, 17th with 0 wins 2 draws and 5 defeats.
