How to reduce newgen CA?

I'm still playing FM15 but I assume the problem exist in FM16 too.

American newgens have way, way too high CA when they're created in the game. Many of them have 75 or even higher which is totally unreasonable. A realistic number for the majority would be around 30-40 at most. Check what quality English prospects have in the DB and it's much lower than the American newgens.

I've tried to reduce nation youth rating, club youth rating, facilities etc, but the unrealistic CA's still keep popping up.

What else can I do? I'm not interested in ways to fix this after the players have been created. I'm interested in finding out how to create this right from the start.

My guess is that the lack of a pyramid system is causing this, as the game does generate players only for MLS standard. You could check that with one of the custom US systems with lower leagues.

Good suggestion but I've tested with a pyramid and it's the same result. Putting the Academy league at level 6 still makes the players too strong. What's interesting is that nothing I do seem to matter. I would have thought that changing the ratings would have changed something but it doesn't look like that. The Canadian based players in the same league have similar CA by the way.

So I think it's possible you're right that the game produces MLS newgens(even though most don't have the PA for it) and ignoring the effect on the American pyramid. The problem here is that the majority of these players are good enough to play at least for NPSL and ADL clubs so I have to watch what kind of transfers happen. I will try to see what the long term effects are. I'm mostly worried about the knock on effect on NPSL and ADL and to some extent the Third division.

Have you tried lowering the club's Youth Training? As that will effect the CA of regens. But maybe it is a bug? You should report it to SI.

Yes, I did reduce youth training.

I think this is a feature more than a bug but it's still a little bit annoying. What I mean is that I think the CA is as intended and that it's hard coded. It's just that I disagree with what it is and I also think I have reason to disagree with it.

I can suggest to modify and reduce also:

-reputation of the nation USA;

-reputation of the competitions MLS, MLS Cup and the others connected;

In my experience these are other factors determining the quality of the regens
