4-2-3-1 Narrow- must it entail a possession-style tactic?

Recommended Posts

Owing to the large number of attacking midfielders and playmakers in my preferred team, I thought the formation in the title was most realistic to implement. However, my defenders are unsuitable for a possession-style tactic, and 2 of my 3 strikers are Target Men. Could a direct, semi-hoofball style be made to work with this formation?
