Hello gurus of the tactics community, I have a question regarding my team balance.

I want to achieve balance in my team, example; if the ball is on the right hand side my right fullback joins the attack while the left fullback tucks in with my centre backs and creates a back three and vica versa.

Another example; if my left side forward has the ball the left fullback joins the attack on a overlap and creates with, the right fullback tucks in with the centre backs, the right side forward cuts inside and attacks his far post while my striker attacks the far post from the ball.

Another one; I play with a midfield three in the MC strata, if the right hand midfielder has the ball, the centre/left attacks the box and the third stays back to balance, and vica versa depending on where the ball is.

I do realise that Very Fluid is somewhere to start, but this does not go well with the rest I want to achieve, I want a structured attack with well drilled movement. Each player should at every time know where his team mates are and what they are going to do. I want a strong team effort where there is not mutch individual creativity. Every player has a well defined role, but still I want them to move freely in the structured system.

Look at Klopps Dortmund, they played with two centre midfielders who balanced eachother. One joined the attack one stayed back, it did not matter who did what. It is something like this I want to achieve.

Impossible? It may be because the ME is not reality but I have to ask just in case ;)

PS. Thank you to everybody contributing to the community, I would be lost in the world of FM without this place! Even though I do not contribute mutch I visit this place every day to see what is being discussed and written. So mutch knowledge and insight in one place is hard to find, keep up the good work!

This is my interpretation so far,

Very Fluid - Counter because I want players to take up each position vacated and be free enough to find new positions (also to be compact and press high when I can, but defend low when needed and hit on the counter).

I use specialist roles beacause I want every player to have a well defined role

High press - because I want to win the ball back high up the pitch.

Play aggressive - I feel this helps me to win the ball back not just run after the ball.

High defensive line - when needed my back four will play a high block.

Prevent short GK distribution - also helps my high press.

Play out of defense - I do not want my defenders just hoofing the ball up, building play from deep when the opposition sits back.

Be moore diciplined - because of the structured attacking movements I want to achieve.

Feedback please!

Haha, of course!

I have changed it slightly since last time, pushed my wide men down in the midfield to try to get better defensive stability, also being torn between Target Man and Defensive Forward for my striker. I feel the Target Man attracts to many long balls, and the Defensive Forward is being overlooked in the finishing stage of attacks. Any tips?

In my current save with Crewe, I've spent most of the season playing 4-1-4-1. My loan striker is normally a DF, I think he's got 26 goals so far this season (4th best in the division). At times the link up play with a CM(A) is lovely, but at other times everyone seems to have concrete boots on and I struggle for forward runs.

Why duty do you use for your DF?

I agree with Harpoon.

Playing with a player in the defensive midfield position you can afford to have one player in the midfield with attack duty.

This will help alot to link your midfield with your forward.

I would also change one of the wingers attack to another role, perhaps a WM or even a Wide Playmaker

Remember balance doesn't have to mean Symmetry. I think the main thing you need is intelligent players, you can only do so much with your instructions.

Too much of the same can mean they get in each others way if they cannot read the game and each other. Think Gerrard + Lampard for England, they had that "take turns going forward" but it never really worked well and would be looking at each other like "are you going forward or me?"
