Cookbooksupreme
Hello everyone, After several years of managing top-flight clubs, I wanted to try my hands at the lower leagues so moved to Sheffield United in League 1. I was able to secure promotion to the Championship, and after a year I feel I am ready to challenge seriously for the prem promotion. My tactics are fairly vanilla, but would appreciate your help in sharpening them! Screenshots attached here. Are there any obvious areas for improvement? Clashing roles/positions? What would you change? I realize it's hard without seeing my player attributes, so I've uploaded those here: Defenders, midfielders, and strikers Thanks so much! herne79
You need to tell us what issues you are seeing and the style of football you are aiming for. If all you do is ask "what would you change", you'll get 20 different opinions which may or may not be of use. It would also help if you read the sticky at the top of this forum about asking for help.

It would also help if you read the sticky at the top of this forum about asking for help. Of course! I would love to be more specific, unfortunately my knowledge of football is rather low. Regarding the style of football, I am aiming to play a possession-based approach - but again am not sure if this suits the players that I have, and would appreciate advice about whether it does! Concerning what I'm seeing...offensively I'm happy enough with my production, but defensively I am weak. My stats page says that I get scored on most often by crosses, but I know that's not the most useful guidance. What do you generally look for when you are diagnosing defensive problems? I try to watch highlights in extensive mode, but don't really notice any trends. Apologies if this type of post is sent many times a day - I want to be as specific as possible and appreciate the help!
craigd84
well just at a glance, you have played 2 games... your strikers both have 2 in 2 and 1in 1.. seems like that partner ship works and that Dena guy has 1 in 1 too. Craig Maher also seems to be doing well in the WM Role. I think your tactic is working well, however your Left back and Left centre back seem to be weak going by their average ratings, maybe low form or just the wrong roles. when you say your knowledge is rather low, what do you specificly mean? and why did you choose to play football manager? I hope the bit i have said helps!
summatsupeer
Stats just point you in directions to look for a cause. Is a player just beaten? Were they put in a bad position because of your instructions? There are lots of things you could change, but it depends what you want. Sometimes changing instructions isn't what is needed, changing players to fit your style might be the only way to improve your performance.
