Smallest stadium

Recommended Posts

Just out of curiosity, which team has the smallest capacity stadium in the game?

I think I landed myself a job at one of the contenders: Indonesian third division club Pidie Jaya have a stadium with a capacity of only 100. I've asked the board to consider buying it with a view of expanding, but they told me they were happy with the current arrangements... Mind you, that's the same board that refused my request of going on a coaching course with the argument that they feared if I would become a better coach I would leave for a better club. So much for ambition.

I think 100 might be tough to beat - I was looking at my clubs landmarks yesterday and I did notice one of the first items was "stadium expanded to 500", but I don't think it was ever below a 100. This was in Wales.

Unless there are cliffs on the sides of the pitch surely the real world minimum would have to be like 200 for any normal pitch. Thats assuming that everyone lines the sides of the pitch one person deep and allows for generous spacing in between too

Yeah, but I'd guess that the capacity in FM is the capacity of the stands, and the capacity of the surrounding nature isn't included...

Not really, as Shielfield Park has a listed capacity of 4,500, and while not represented as such in game, in real life that number includes the grass bank behind one of the goals(the seating holds 1,366, the terracing holds 2,765 and 369 on the grass).

I could scan in my ticket from the game vs Rangers where I was allocated a standing place on the grass.

I'd put the sub-500 or so capacity stadiums down to either research errors(maybe the researcher only includes seats or terracing in his/her ratings) or strange circumstances.

That's interesting, because the SPFL website lists Shielfield Park's capacity as 4,091 and most other sites as 4,131, so I assume that the grass bank isn't included in the official capacity. But this is going a bit offtopic, sorry.

Well the match I went to was a SFL game, and not SPFL, as that didn't come into force until 2 seasons later. Maybe SPFL rules forbid the use of grass banks for standing. I even went and checked, the BBC match report gives an attendance of 4,476( http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21527428 ). 4,131 is the number for the combined seating and terracing, so I imagine 4,091 is for capacity for segregation reasons, since there's no fences or anything.

But yeah, that could also explain why some capacities are so low. I guess you gotta take competition rules into account.
