Jimbokav1971
I can't remember the exact wording, but when a young player wanted to go out on loan, there used to be a response which basically just said something like. "No. I don't want you to go on loan because your development would be best served by staying at the club". Now, that option frustratingly doesn't appear to be available. The following pic shows the responses that are available to the player in question. Just for the record he is a 19 year old player who's position at the club was "hot prospect" when he signed his contract approx 2 years ago. He made 0 appearances in the 1st season and 1 in the 1st half of this 2nd season. He is a decent prospect, (and has good PA), but there are better players both in the team ahead of him and also better younger players waiting in the wings too. I don't want him to go on loan because then I will not be able to tutor him or monitor his additional training, and I also need to keep him at the club for another 18 months for him to be classed as HG at club, (because he didn't come through my academy). Why is the old response no longer abvailable?
Guest
Could be getting dropped of to make room for the tutoring option & I imagine the conversation path follows the same logic as going on loan will end that tutoring link therefore his development is better served by not going on loan. The added bonus is this is exactly the reason why you do not want to loan him out.
johnhughthom
It might be an idea to stick an option in there that he needs to stay to gain home grown at club status, perhaps saying something along the lines that that would increase the player's chance of a long term career at the club. The problem with that is that as soon as the tutoring is over, the player will then think it's reasonable for him to go on loan, (when it obviously isn't). I like the idea suggested by johnhughthom and I think it's something that needs to be added in the future.
Guest
Not really that different to telling him it's for the good of his development & then have him knock on your door a year later when he's still not in the senior squad, as for the HG idea it's worth SI considering but it would need to provide an incredibly low chance of appeasing a player because in all likelihood it's not something a real player would be all that concerned about & would end up being the default option for folk who like to stack their reserve & youth squads with as many high PPA players as they can get away with signing. Jimbokav1971
He returned again asking to go out on loan. This time I used the option related to the tutoring. We will see what happens after the tutoring ends.
Guest
To run a fair test you'll also need to run an off-shoot save where you've cancelled the tutoring before he asks for a chat about going out on loan to compare behaviour with the less specific option of your development is best served... Jimbokav1971
Damn. Can't believe I cut off the dates on both the pics above. He is back again on 4th April 2021. (He is still being tutored). This time when I tell him that he can't go because he is being tutored, he says that going on loan is more important, (so I tell him to shut up). He is coming back to me on a monthly basis at the moment. 4th Feb 2021. 7th March 2021. 4th April 2021.
Guest
Sounds like he's more trouble than he's worth, bet you're hoping the tutoring sorts his head out. Do the coach reports suggest he might be a problem personality or that his current ability is good enough to play at a decent level?
