mrbpme
7 defenders :/
skybluedave
Yeah. No idea what formation NI are playing. Already seems like it's gonna be a long day for them. 1-0 smash and grab would be amazing though.
daylight
7 defenders :/ Still doesn't seem enough at the moment.
ArsenalFan7
I hope N.Ireland get thumped 7-0 for this negativity
Astafjevs
3-5-1-1. McNair, Baird, Norwood in midfield.
toon_84
Cant see them keeping this up for 90 minutes. Not with 2 league 1 full backs.
Cougar2010
NI really need to push the Polish fullbacks back and get some possession in the middle of the park
midgetram
Is that Poland's first shot on target?

midgetram
This is a horrendous match, two really **** teams. Don't think Poland are that bad, and N. Ireland are defending well in the majority. Just a little one dimensional in their attacking right now. Need to stop crossing all the time against a tall back-line.
dafuge
That would have been a great goal

Need to stop crossing all the time against a tall back-line. There's defending well to create good counter attacks & then there's parking the bus in the hope you don't concede, N.Ireland have gone for the second option. Alegeeter
This might just be our first 0-0.
ArsenalFan7
Northern Ireland may as well go home now, they even had the ball in the Polish box ?

So? They can approach games how they like. Get a draw here, beat Ukraine and go through is what their thinking might well be. In that case, they're doing a good job in the majority. BJG123
This might just be our first 0-0. Don't think there's much chance NI are keeping a clean sheet here. Similar sort of game to England vs Russia.
Coulthard's Jaw
I sense a 1-0 win for Norn Ireland.
PaulHartman71
I don't really have a problem with Northern Ireland playing like this. Their best hope probably is a smash and grab 1-0 or nick a 0-0. Admittedly very boring to watch though.
Anti Spiral
Yeah don't see how people can complain about them being defensive, they'd get torn to shreds if they are more open.
The_jagster
As per usual, when the plucky Brit plays like this it's fine. It's a fair tactic but so dull to watch.
iMan
Worst game so far. N.I are crap.
bestbrother
Desperate is how id call Northern Ireland. They can play how they want, but its miserable to watch and I hope they go on to lose, as it may just ignite them to do something in their 2nd game of the group. johnhughthom
Dallas for McNair is a positive move.
G-Man11
They are playing with 3rd tier players in their side, what do you expect?

georginho_juventusygr
Come on, Northern Ireland. Attack once in a while. Keep the ball.

Anti Spiral
There's been criticism of the goalkeeping in the tournament but the finishing has been pretty crap for the most part too.

georginho_juventusygr
With the subs, Northern Ireland actually came up fighting more. Or Poland got tired. But anyway, Northern Ireland did fight.
Darius1998
With the subs, Northern Ireland actually came up fighting more. Or Poland got tired. But anyway, Northern Ireland did fight. Considering the players they have, I think they did okay. That said, Germany will cut them to shreds at this rate.
PandoraBox
Kaputska is brilliant, what a talent, shamefully he seems 99% certain at Celtic.

Rikulec
Kapustka was great indeed, but Krychowiak was slightly better in my opinion. Really held our midfield together. Our first ever win at the Euros as well.
chris79
Job's done. Shame Ni are not looking like they can take points off UKR or GER. Kapustka's such a great prospect, he was a bit stressed at start, but grew as the game continued. He's only 19 FFS We were poor on set pieces and lacked good final ball/good cross, which is the reason it didn't end 3 or 4 to nil. However the decision to play Szczęsny ahead of Fabiański is going to cost us at some point.

sebsy
Worst game of the championships so far, that. Was probably to be expected given the teams, but it was pretty miserable stuff. Poland were very good at times, but as a match it was unenthralling.
YOUNGSTEVE
That is how they play like all the time by boring the opposition to death. The tournament has been a bit light on goals so far, with attackers lacking in front of goal, us included. Hopefully it will pick up.
