AlTal
Right, my numptey of a Chairman has just decided to lose the club £2m+! Bit of back story...I'm the boss at Cambridge 3 seasons in. First season i lost in the L2 Playoff final. In the summer window i get really lucky and sign a great regen from non league Chester for peanuts (40k). Ipswich was a favoured club of mine and got an email saying they had bid accepted for said regen, otherwise i would have had no idea about him) and my offer of first team player swayed him my way. Gained promotion via playoffs in second season. Regen got around 20/25 apps but only scored once but played well for a 16yo. Following summer, i was fending off bids for him from Championship/Prem teams of around 150k/200k. He came to me saying he wanted leave to play for bigger club. I promised him when right money came in, i'd let him go, which he was happy with! Then i made a mistake...had a bid from a championship club and out of interest and not expecting them to accept, i went back saying you can have him for £1m, which the club quickly accepted and i quickly panicked and declined. This then annoyed the regen further and came to me again and morale went to abysmal. At this point, i was resigned to losing him and knowing i could get a hefty sum for him, i offer him out at £5m (start high, you know!) I get two bids back from him from two prem teams (Watford and Hull) for around £1m. i negotiate with both and Hull end up giving me £2m up front, £2m over 48 months, £500k after 20 apps and £500 after 10 goals. Although i want to keep him, i feel this is more than enough to help lay the foundations for this relatively poor, small club and if invested well, could build a better squad quicker than one striker. NOW...here comes my annoyance. While the regen is in contract discussions with Hull, West Ham bid a measly £925k with no add ons. My Chairman then ACCEPTS the offer on my behalf, stating 'the offer was too good to turn down...' Obviously, he then signs for West Ham :/ Surely this is a bug? First of all, surely the chairman would know about the much higher accepted bid and would say to West Ham they would need to match. Second of all, as i stated, i had declined slightly higher bids than West Ham's with no intrusion from the Chairman. £925k is still a lot for Cambridge but missing out on a further garunteed £2m and potential £1m has left a bee in my bonnet. I had saved the game only 1 game week prior to this and have now closed my laptop as part of me wants to commit the cardinal sin and reload... Lordluap
In the Transfers tab you can still click Decline on an offer "you've" accepted.
tmason122
That does kind of suck.... It could be a bug, but it also could be due to your finances? How much time elapsed between you rejected the initial 1 million GBP bids and the the one that your chairman accepted for 925k? Perhaps in that time you had some extra outgoings (tax, other players coming in, new contracts etc.?) that put a dent in your finances, meaning that your chairman felt like he had to act in order to maximise the potential of the transfer being made. That being said, IRL the chairman would probably and elongate the negotiations with West Ham give the Watford deal more time of going through and then accept the West Ham as a back up bid. So I can understand your annoyance there.
Lordluap
Its been relatively common in all CM/FM's. How much was his "value"? If the West Ham offers was xx% higher than this it could be done on an automatic calculation?
AlTal
Not sure exactly but i wouldn't have been more than a few days. i was getting several bids daily for the guy. If anything, accepting another bid would have possibly extended any transaction!
AlTal
I don't know to be honest, never really looked at his value as originally had no intention of keeping him and was then more caught up in what i could get for him.
