ashton321
Hi guys, just been looking through some threads and it seems that in general the forum is taking a bit of a dip. Some of the long standing threads like Gundo and the Big Euro Challenge seem really quite and the Small Club challenges in Asia are quiet and I cant even find the South American one. I hope they pick up soon and especially next year. Maybe a new type of challenge is needed to bring some interest back to these forums, the Ultimate Challenge is doing well. Hopefully the others do. I really enjoyed when the Challenge threads were busy a few years ago, was such a good little community. Anyone have any ideas?
Joe.
I think the sign ups always do quite well, but nobody ever sees them through. I don't think I've been part of a sign up that doesn't just stop because the person who started it goes awol - though I appreciate there's a lot of time and effort involved in running such a thing. I don't think I've been part of a sign up that doesn't just stop because the person who started it goes awol - though I appreciate there's a lot of time and effort involved in running such a thing. I'm the first to admit that I've let the occasional sign-up go quiet, but what I've observed is that 12 people sign up, you spend all the time setting it up and simming it, and then when you post the updates, only 1-2 people even bother commenting. I did one last year that ran for 20+ years, and several of the "participants" never commented after signing up. This year's, I've actively been playing the save, but it was really hard to motivate myself to paste in all the screenshots knowing that no one's coming back to look at them. I've always found the "bottom to the top" challenges very intriguing, but again, by the time I motivate myself to post my progress, I'm already a year or two down the road. vikeologist
One thing I miss is that a few years ago there were threads that tied all the threads together, such as a records thread and an end of year awards. It would be nice to have a link between the different thread so that we are all part of one community, rather than just a lot of separate threads. I find it hard to keep up with all the threads though. It would be nice to be pointed towards particularly interesting careers. Of course, if I was that fussed, I could resurrect one or both of those threads. The records thread would be ok, because it maintains itself. It might be an idea to start that again. The CSE awards would be a lot of work though. Also, I think that you'd want someone to oversee it who didn't have skin in the game the way that I sort of do with the Ultimate Challenge. In a way, i don't know that the reduced number of people doing the marquee challenges is a problem, but it is a pity that some of the good recent challenges have died out. I guess you need at least 4 or 5 people actively doing a challenge and posting updates once a week to keep things going. Maybe the total number of people doing challenges just isn't enough. Lenzar
Someone posts a new challenge, and it doesn't help that the first response is 'oh there's one like that already'. Not what we need to see, IMHO.
ashton321
Its tough to find one that hasnt been mentioned already and one that is going to get people interacting with it. I was reading back through the old ideas thread and the only one that jumped out was a challenge based on a players progress rather than a team Example. You holiday a season You then pick a regen to follow. Points are awarded for that regens progress for things like honours and international caps
kccircle
The records thread was always good, but it always ended up with some random creations like most goals in first 30 minutes when someone scored 5 in a game early doors With the new board is it possible to attach this type of thread multi board with some fixed parameters for FM17
Tullem
I would love to see more sign ups! I always sign up (if I see the thread in time) and am usually very active throughout the sign up, shame there are so many, as podunkboy says, that sign up then don't post... Lenzar
Whenever I've run a signup, I get people wanting dozens of screenshots. This slows it down.
toonbalmy87
As you know i am an avid thread creator but when you get up to 5 people reply after all the work you put into it. it kind of sucks because of the amount of time it take to set up and create like this one https://community.sigames.com/topic/373403-fut-fm16-game-thread-20/
jim owen
I think the stickys at the top need removing, they are so log out of date and inaccurate, it creates a bad opening impression for new people
TheEarl
I think the current stickys should be removed/refreshed. And I miss some action from mods here to maybe make a few new/updated stickys. One idea could be: current challenges, with a short description of what the challenge includes. Another idea might be to make some action in other social medias, to get "new people" interested in this section of the forums.
