ppm guide?

Recommended Posts

Is there any up to date, detailed guide about ppms, except maybe this http://www.guidetofootballmanager.com/players/player-preferred-moves that would break down positions and roles and suggest suitable ppms for every player role?

For example: When you play guy as Anchor Man, PPM A and B is useful for him but PPM C is bad.

On the other hand when you play him as DLP you want to use PPM A and C but not B and D.

Also i want information about attribute requirements, for example I recall reading somewhere that if your striker have arrtibutes X Y and Z teach him to place shots, but if he lacks Y tell him to shoot with power.

I ask about this because my current knowledge about PPMs is that you dont have to learn CBs about placing shots and you want IFs to cut inside and wingers to dribble down left/right

Most people use PPMs to give their systems a certain uniqueness. And there are roles that don't require PPMs because these are already hardcoded into the instructions like Inside Forwards will cut inside with the ball. So it really depends on how you want them to play.

Some people may like their anchorman to dive into challenges, others may not. Others may like him to dictate tempo, whilst you could find managers thinking that a player dictating tempo so deep is pointless.

So use ppms within your own system to give it the flavour you want. I doubt you are going to find any guide that lists down PPM A is good and B is bad for this role. Furthermore, while they may be good on paper, some players will just not learn the ppms because they are lacking key attributes. Logically if you find that your striker is always missing shots and he always does first time shots, then you could ask him to place shots. This shouldn't be a rule for anyone but you to decide based on your system.

I have written guides on ppms before, the best advice I can offer you is to use PPMs like a tweak and not make it central to the way you want to play.

My problem is that i dont really know much about football tactics, so i am asking for help in this matter. For example i dont know whats better to place shots or to shoot with power. From what i understand placed shot is aimed at corner therefore difficult to defend, while shot with power is strong one, and less accurate one, but they are also harder to defend cause they are shot with power. So which one is better and when and how.

In my tactic i use 2 central defenders, 2 fullbacks set to wingback attack. 2 cms with central midfielder support (right has more offensive instructions) amrl are opposite footed IFs, amc is am attack and DLF attack. Each player has instuction to shoot less often and they are set to play narrow.

So from what i understand right and left defender provide width and they should not have cut inside ppm, but what? Hug line? Dribble down left/right flank?

What about IF, if they are hardcoded to cut inside should I also train them to cut inside?

How about these other positions? DLF comes deep to get the ball?

Any other ideas ?

its mostly intuitive, like for a poor finisher you want likes to round the keeper. However one thing i know for sure is the more talented the player the less PPMs you want him to have unless they dont come into conflict with any other decisions they could make.

how is that? You see ronaldo (5ppm) messi (6ppm) and other top players packed with PPMs. So if I finally get my hands on team full of best world players (which i usually do after playing long enough) should I refrain from teaching them any PPMs? Then whats the point of them?

Over the years I played this game PPMs gave me most trouble and i used various guides, things I read and packed my players with PPMs, and now i hear not to do it :<

What Rashidi said.

Example: one of my favourite things to do is have a left inside forward, who's left footed and dribbles down the left wing.

uhh, then whats the difference between winger ? Or how the match engine would treat it ?

Cutting inside. He does that too. Think of it like a winger with the ppm cut inside. It adds dimensions to the role. That's what ppms are for me, adding spice to your tactic or a role, creative ammo.
