Perkele
Problem(s) – I'm a new player and I'm playing with Dynamo Kiev. I'm supposed make a title challenge but I lost my first two games. I'm trying to understand what I'm doing wrong. Expectations - To have the title favorites to win games. Shape/formation – In Zorya game: 4-1-1-3-1 DM Wide, pretty tight and high defensive line. Standard mentality. I've changed very little manually. Very, very little. ------------Target Man (attack)-------------- Winger (S)--------AMC(S)---------Winger (S) --------------------BBM(S)------------------- --------------------DLP(D)-------------------- WB(S)-----BDP(D)-------CD(D)-------WB(A) ----------------------GK---------------------- Formation: https://gyazo.com/78f55f08b5dc6c7bd22f11730c91b94a Stats, my team: https://gyazo.com/986fe7ff4ce2f764080921b3f725b03b Stats, opposition: https://gyazo.com/8dd6b23456a5c0b15dd59f7646172e26 Summary: https://gyazo.com/a7ff93f2e015f93a022432a392851249 ----------------------------------------------------------- In Shaktar game: 4-1-2-3 DM Wide. herne79
Welcome to the forums. In the first thread you made you were given the a link to a topic which shows you the information we need in order to help you. Please take a few minutes and have a quick read of it as at the moment we don't know what's going on. As well as the two ways of taking screenshots mentioned above, you can also use Alt+F9 in game. loklokno123
Team Shape? Is your Target Man Moraes? (the Brazilian) You need to know that if you use Target Man, AI(your players) will constantly pump the ball forward to your targetman If will lead to one-D , personally i dont use Target Man If you want he to play like target man Please read a article called Mobile Target Man are you playing high defensive line but not pressing? In my memory your CD are not very fast, try to play normal D-Line , it's too risky to play High D-Line from the start unless you play counter-pressing. I would say your 4-1-1-3-1 DM Wide that your Midfield protection is bad, what i mean is that your BBM will roam from position, you only have one DLP as a shield to protect your back four. try CM(S) Personal preference, use Gusev to play DR:) Kiev is somehow difficult to manage. also read this guide http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/366111-How-to-Play-FM-A-Twelve-Step-Guide

That would make sense... I just chose it because it was "cool" in CM 97/98 It might be best if I choose another team... Any good choice for a casual beginner? I have to get back to this. I'm not sure what I have misunderstood... Moraes and my other top striker are both injured. I just took my top striker from Kiev 2 to cover their absence. This new guy, whom you can see in the screenshots (Yeremchuk) is only able to play target man well. Other roles are a lot less familiar... I haven't done anything about pressing. CM(S) is not that familiar to the players, most are BBMs.
herne79
Team Shape, as in Structured? Fluid? Balanced? Don't worry about role familiarity. If you believe a player is capable of playing the role you want according to his attributes and profile, then choose that role. As mentioned above, with a Target Man your players are basically going to hoof the ball up to him as soon as possible. If that happens, you need players in close support for the TM, otherwise he'll be isolated and be easy pickings for the opposition defenders. Review the matches you've already played, see how good (or bad) his support is especially in the 4123DM formation.
summatsupeer
Wingbacks will be looking to run into space but your wingers will be there more often than not. Your formation is your defensive positioning, so you have very open channels between your midfield line and wingers in the first formation. You have a tm-a, who will push high and your team will look to feed him the ball due to being a "targetman" the same way they look to give the ball more often to playmakers. Your tm lacks close support for any knock-ons, I think a tm needs a second forward or if given support an attacking midfielder who will make runs past him and offer another presence in the box if playing with two wingers. I think you need to decide how you want to play, do you really want a targetman style? Do you want crosses coming from both wings and who can provide them? Two wingers and two wingbacks lack variety. Have a read of some of the guides to give you some ideas and the FAQs.

I have kept that as my #1 priority at all times... Wow

Marsupian
Ah, it's fluid and mentality is standard. So role familiarity is not that important? I have kept that as my #1 priority at all times... Wow I never look at it. If I need a player to play like a complete forward I don't care that my staff rates him extremely poorly for that role. It's a hard role to play but I'd rather he gives it a shot than throw my whole game plan out the window. If I see during the games that I am asking too much of him I might adapt his role to a more simple deep or advanced forward but I rarely if ever take my staff advice in regards to role suitability in account. I look at my players and have a system in mind for how I want to play and then put the two together making concessions if necessary. The staff only looks at a handful of attributes which are somewhat arbitrarily chosen. Looking at the deep lying forward role vision and agility are not in the core attribute set for the role but for the way I play and how the rest of the team is set up around him I value them greatly for that role. Only I know exactly what I want from my players so I usually disregard all tactical advice from my staff.
