Can't sell player?

Recommended Posts

I am unable to offer G. Barry to other clubs.

He has 1 year left on his contract, he's not retiring, and he wants to be sold - and is pleased with the progress regarding his sale.

Can't click "Offer to clubs"

"Offers First Team players you've listed for transfer/loan to other Clubs" = Me.

Any help would be appreciated!

He's old and abit rubbish, possibly on a not-so-tiny salary as well. Pretty much ticks all the boxes of "transfers not worth doing"

That wasn't his question.

I have seen it before and I'm not sure what causes it. You could try again in maybe a week gametime to see if its still grey'd out otherwise maybe add him to the unwanted list and see if the DOF can do it.

Basically there must be a setting somewhere that causes it but I don't know what it is.

I've tried the DOF thing, and I've waited months.

I just noticed I can see his staff attributes. Could this have anything to do with it?

Have you tried to terminate/mutually terminate his contract as I think it is related to this?

I can do this, but it would cost me 2.3m. Also, I'm not willing to try as he's now a much needed back-up.

Or is he retiring?

No.

Just an FYI; I can't offer him out on loan, but I can however loan him to an affiliate club.

You can see there that Gareth Barry is "considering his options".

If my experience of FM13 is anything to go by, that basically means he's retiring. On FM13, I have found it literally impossible to offer any player who is "considering his options" to other clubs. Once a player is "considering his options", that's it - he won't accept or even negotiate any more playing contracts, and will shortly announce his intention to retire. Therefore, I cannot offer him out or change his transfer status.

I haven't played enough of FM16 to have encountered a player who's "considering his options", so I'm not sure if the above still applies to the new version. If not, that issue may need looking at for future versions.

Unfortuantely this is not the case here.

I can offer him a new contract (player, player/coach, coach) and he's willing to negotiate. And I thought "considering his options" implies he might also want to be sold?

I'm pretty sure you can offer a player that is retiring to other clubs, so that can't be it. That's not saying a club would ever actually make a bid, or offer a contract. Never seen that.

Like I said, I'd encountered this issue in FM13, and it perhaps doesn't have much relevance in FM16, as it might well have been fixed by now.

It still seems quite odd, though, that you can't offer Barry out.
