FootballManager89
I built a great tactic for barcelona and we did great. However i tried translating that tactic to a llm team in england and its not doing as well. So what general differences are there in tactical theory for a llm team compared to barcelona? You should keep in mind that low league team has much less skilled players. That's whay they can't play with such complicated and skill-based tactic as Barcelona. You should come up with a very simple tactic which doesn't force players to do something they are not capable of. I believe there should be more direct passes (I believe your team is poor in passing), less dribbling (because you don't have good dribblers in your team), lower tempo (your players can't make right decisions quickly) - nothing too fancy. And since your new team doesn't have intelligent players you should limit their creative freedom - use more rigid shape, less roaming and/or "be more disciplined" instruction. Your tactic will be relative to the strength of team you have VS those in the same division . I have a save playing in the Airtricity League (Rep of Ireland) with St.Patrick's Athletic. In comparison to a top flight or Championship level English team the decision making, passing, dribbling (among others) attributes are quite low. However in comparison to the rest of the teams in the division they are ranked 1st. I was able to use a flexible/control 4-3-3 and achieve high levels of pass completion and CCC's. The issue i run into is when coming up against teams in Europe as they will be of a higher quality than the domestic opponents.

If you are coaching a youth team and you have players who are technically skilled for the level you play at do you also tell them to play a direct passing game and not try to dribble? I personally don't think every lower league team should try to emulate Stoke from a couple of seasons ago. I might be in the minority and it's not necessarily the right approach but I don't do anything different when managing a lower league team. I still look at the type of players I have available and make an idea for the type of football I want to play and then translate that into FM the best I can. The "Developing a System" thread I have going goes into detail on how I approach things. There I have a 3. Fussball-Liga team playing a high tempo and fluid passing game. That doesn't mean my team suddenly plays like Dortmund and we destroy the league. My players make plenty of mistakes but for me bad football is part of the charm of LLM, if you are afraid of mistakes or players not being able to do what you want lower league management probably isn't the place to be.
