Player now not happy after praising his last performance

Recommended Posts

In my last game my central midfielder played a great game having an assist and performed really high. Come the end of the game I praised his performance even when the media praised his performance as well. My complaint is that his status changed from Green to yellow now in "Okay" state.

I mean am i doing something stupid by praising his last performance ? this is really a fear factor to talking and praising with your players from one point because you don't want to change the teams moral for the worst yes.. Not to forget i'm at the top of the table which does add to player moral in a good positive way only to be stuffed up from a good praise you give the player. How do the 2 sync when your on top of the league and the player doesn't agree with you in terms of performance and his moral dips south.

Someone shed some light please.

I rushed and played the next time before your reply. We won the game and he also is very happy now. Under conversation history I told him his passing was a joy to behold. I can't exactly recall what he said. Something along the lines he didn't feel like his passing was good enough and that another area was. Probably meaning i miss judged the area that needed praising which i find strange since he had an assist in game. Did it affect his next game ? no not at all. I watched the full game and in fact his passing was a joy to watch.

I don't want to be saying something that shouldn't be said, but given he had an assist in the previous game i'm sure any coach would thank their player for teamwork in some way right.

Well there's a clear reason why morale dropped then? He didn't agree with your praise and found it confusing.

If you praised his passing, it should have been based on completed pass %. An assist is a created chance (along with Key Passes), so you should have said you were happy with his chances created.

As you said though, it's a minor issue as it didn't affect his game after that. People overplay the whole morale thing.

Yes thank you. it was an incorrect praise towards the player. But to be honest I've found praising players for the right way they play has great benefits. It does raise moral and it's a great time to praise them to push their moral up. You just don't know when you will get another chance to do it.

I like to make sure my players moral is always in the green as much as possible, you do know a defeat will come and you do know a string of defeats will come. So I make sure my players moral is high enough to sustain any negatives coming towards them in future games. Just my thoughts to be honest.

yeh this and other player interactions do get a little silly at times, and whilst there's a game to be played as far as certain answer/statement choices being the 'right' one..I can't help but get myself annoyed with the players when they chat such rubbish, goin on about how a lot of the squad will side with him and be unhappy (yes little one....of course 1st team superstars will be annoyed that I don't loan you out so I don't mess up your club grown status)...

...and so before long there's a flaming storm in the media where I add text to my response to the journalist and ultimately get the idiot of a player shipped off to some Cuban prison somewhere.
