So, I'm managing Swansea. During preseason, I signed a young player names Louis Reed from Sheff Utd for 500k and he has 4 star potential and one black star for the fifth star, which I think means that the scout thinks he can reach 5 star ability but isn't sure. I also have a few players in the youth academy with similar potential like Liam Cullen. But how do I make them reach their potential? Will it come with age? Should they be offered out on loan to be given first team football? How do I bring these 1 star 18 year olds to 4 - 5 star 20 something year olds?

Hi Fer,

Effective tutoring, quality coaches to train them, plenty of competitive football (for the level they are suited to as shown in their coaching reports, which may mean loaning them out for a brief period) all help a player to reach their maximum potential.

Top level 1st team football is, I think, the best developer of young talent...but I'm not sure about the ramifications of throwing a kid in at the deep end before he's ready for it hence the suggestion, of a loan to suit their current level, above.
