Preseason warm up and preperation

Recommended Posts

Usually when I play FM I like to play around 6 or 7 pre-season games before the season starts.  That way I can hopefully get the players match fit as well as familiar with my tactics before the season starts.

I'm just about to watch Spurs play Inter on TV (IRL) in what is only their 3rd and final pre-season game before the Premier league season starts.  This contradicts my thoughts, and other peoples thoughts, on scheduling 6+ preseason games for my FM saves.

Do we really need 6+ preseason games to get match fit?  Are there other ways to get your players match fit within FM and reduce the number of friendly games?

Just wondered other people thoughts on this were.

How many of those spurs player will have been away on international duty rather than resting ?

Off the top of my head Lloris, Walker, Rose, Vertongten , Alderweireld, Dier, Alli, Kane, Lamela (?),Dembele. - Probably more than i can think of

They may not need match fitness plus given the level of training and type of football they play it might be designed to keep players fresh etc.

Yeah this was their first pre-season game.  Kane got 60 minutes.  That's it and now the season starts against Evertone next week.  So he has only had 60 mins of pre-season.

How would that work in FM.  Your striker comes back from the EURO or World Cup, you give him 60 mins of a pre-season and then play him in the first game of the season.  My guess is that in FM his match sharpness would be something like 65-70% with only an hour of football played.
