benkeay
So I've just been looking through this thread - I agree with certain points made and disagree with others. I recently started a new save with Stoke City and managed to finish 4th after a win on the final day of the season. A great achievement, one which I was really happy with. I also started the save as manager as England (something that I'd never done before, but fancied combining jobs) and I won Euro 2016. A fantastic first season, I thought. However, my Stoke side was taken over after Peter Coates retired and I was promptly sacked by the new chairman, to be replaced by Claudio Ranieri. My issue with this isn't mainly that I got fired, although that was very disappointing. My problem was that I couldn't get another job. I applied for Burnley and Ipswich (Championship), Bournemouth and Leicester (Premier) and Preston (League 1) and was laughed away by all of them apart from Burnley, where I got an interview but not the job. Now I know from reading the above thread that reputation plays a part in what happens after a takeover. I think I start as a semi pro footballer, no real reputation to speak of. Surely though, having just taken Stoke to the Champions League and won Euro 2016, my reputation would have increased quite a bit and at least League 1 and Championship clubs would want me to be their manager, if not pretty much any club in the world? Also, the above thread (in the most recent comments) mentions that a manager shouldn't get sacked after a takeover if he is performing above expectations. So that rankles with me too, as well as the fact that I couldn't get another job. Of course this kind of thing happens in real life but surely not in the situation I have described. The save lost all the joy it gave me throughout the first season and I just deleted it. It's just frustrating...
Cougar2010
Your rep is far too low for the jobs you started with. This will have been part of the cause of you getting sacked and the reason you can't get jobs now. Your starting rep I would estimate would be on a level for maybe around League 2/conference standard and it would have got a boost from mainly the Euro 16 win. You can check your rep on the profile > Information screen which will show you a star rating and you then be targeting jobs within 0.5* either way of that ratings. Any higher and clubs won't think your rep is high enough, any lower and they'll think you won't be interested as your rep is too high.
Spurs08
It sounds like a case of an unrealistic input causing an unrealistic output. In real life, a former non-league footballer with no managerial experience suddenly being hired at Stoke and England would be completely unheard of, and it'd take a long, long time for them to be respected. Perhaps FM should award larger reputation boosts when you do well at much higher reputation clubs, but next time you'll be a lot better off not giving it a ridiculous situation to start off with.
