Tajerio
I'm having a very good 2018-19 campaign with Derby in the Championship--hung around unemployed to mix things up a bit from the start, and they were the best job around when I came back from my 3-year holiday. We're smoking just about everybody in the league, and we'll be going up, but there's one formation I can't beat--the 4-2-2-2, with 2 DMs. It's been used against me twice now when the other team isn't interested in winning, and it's resulted in a pair of nil-nil draws. I'm constantly stymied up the middle, where my two best players are (Teddy Bishop and Zach Clough), and because they still have two men on each flank they still have decent cover against my wide play. I've primarily been using a 4-4-2, and occasionally a 4-1-4-1, but my squad is flexible and large enough for me to shift into whatever formation might be best suited to tackling the ugly thing. I imagine once I'm in the Prem nobody's going to be using this against me, but I'd still like to know how I ought to tackle it.
harryleechinyeow
I think the Play Wider and Exploit Right/Left Flank TIs should do some decent damage to it.
summatsupeer
You need to post your tactic so we can see what your doing, generic info won't really help. You beat them by exploiting space, drawing players out of position creating space for other players. The main issue I see people doing against 4222 DM Wide / 4231 DM Wide is just trying to avoid the CD/DM area by moving players wider and deeper. You want to cause a cascading effect so if a player is caught out of position or beaten, the player moving to cover him is leaving another of your players open. Don't flood the congested areas but don't completely avoid them either. Your formation is your defensive positioning, they will then transition to your attack which is roles & duties. You need to think more about the mentality, roles, duties and instructions that control how you attack.
