gunner86
One thought I've had regarding moving clubs, would be that we as managers have an "agent". Now this would not be an agent in the same way that players have agents, so it wouldn't necessarily be a person in game, but more like the virtual personal assistant we have in the game at the moment. This would work as just a list of tick boxes that we can set on or off at different points of the game. Then when other jobs are available, or positions are insecure, the club in question would sound out our agent to see whether we would be interested, based on our settings. Our settings could include things like "only interested in jobs from favoured clubs", "only interested in top division jobs", "only interested in jobs offering big pay rise", "only interested in jobs in x country". On top of this we could have an option for our agent to actively pursue these roles for us, or at least sound out the club and find out if there's any likelihood in getting an offer, or even an interview. Finally, I don't get why club roles always require an interview. Did Klopp have to interview for the Liverpool role? Did Guardiola interview for City? I doubt it. Some clubs know who they want and will make an approach. I would just like, in some cases, for a club to come to me and say, "Look, we think you've done a smashing job where you are, here's what we're willing to offer to come work for us" and then present you with the club philosophies (which you have the option to discuss) and a contract offer. c_p_b123
I think an agent for your manager is something that's desperately lacking from the game at present - in fact I find the job market for managers has been completely one dimensional for a while now. It can be frustrating when playing a long game if you want to develop a career managing several different clubs. I'm actually still playing FM15 and increasingly feel there's little reason to buy the newer versions of the game because development is focused on the peripheral cosmetic stuff such as the 3D match engine or a manager avatar, and now social media and updated player photographs according to today's FM17 feature release video. I still play the game in 2D mode - I really don't see what a crappy 3D match engine adds to a manager sim where tactics should be the focus! Anyway in my current game I'm in 2023 and Ancelotti is still in charge of Real Madrid despite not winning the league for six years. We all know this would never be tolerated in real life. I've won the Champions League four times with three different clubs (Man Utd, Inter & PSG) along with maybe six league titles. If I had an agent I could tell him to sound out Real to make them aware I'd like to take over - promising great success of course! Alternatively if I've been managing in Italy for two or three years I could tell my agent that I want a change at the end of the season, and to sound out clubs in another nation such as Spain if I fancy managing there. Clubs in Spain could then weigh up their current manager against my availability, and even come to some kind of 'gentleman's agreement' a la Mourinho or Pep.
