Need help on recreating high pressing football like Jurgen Klopp's

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i need your help on this one, so im using liverpool and tring to apply high pressing football like Klopp, but only resulting in leaky defense, im one of the worst defense in EPL now
so here is my tactic
i use 4-3-3
2 central defender, 1 is set to Cover, and 1 is set to normal
2 full back,1 automatic and 1 attack
3 mid fielder, BBM(sup, APM(sup), and CM(Au)
3 forward, 2 IF and 1 F9

i set my team to play on higher tempo, High defense line, Close down much more, pass into space, mixed pass, tighter marking, and narrower formation

and in OI i close down most of their central player

and this is resulting in very leaky defense, cant seems to press properly, most conceded goals are some ridiculously stupid through ball,

thabks in advance smile.gif

What does automatic duty players with the attacking mentality do?

What does the attacking mentality do?

What does the Very Fluid team shape do?

Who is your holding midfield player that helps to protect the defence?

You can't recreate Klopp's "gegenpress" with the current match engine. Klopp's pressing is a bit more sophisticated and complicated than just telling the players to aggressively close down all over the pitch all the time. Klopp's pressing will - for example - depend on where on the pitch the possession (ball) is lost, and for how long (and even that is simplifying things quite a bit). Like it or not - the current match engine is not properly equipped to deal with some of the more "exotic" tactics. Guardiola's system is another example that can't be done in the FM match engine currently, mainly due to the behaviour of the full backs.

You can't replicated constant counter-pressing as stated, but, you can encourage players to "swarm" around an opposition player an try and press him with more than one player. I recommend Fluid or Very Fluid shape to do so, as it encourage players to be close to each other on the ball, so when they lose it they have numbers to try and win it back. Look at some of O-zil to the Arsenal!'s threads, he played with high-pressing and a Fluid shape a couple of times and got great results.
