Finally some news.

On a side note, was Watfordfc.com designed by schoolkids? It's horrific

From this comment, I was expecting the site to look a lot worse. Looks fine, IMO. Not brilliant, but pretty far from the worst I've seen :).

I just quickly made up an email address and signed up,

Majorly dissapointed! 30 seconds? If i wanted to be that let down in 30 seconds i'd get layed.

Where is it? I registered and I can`t find it.

Edit: nvm I found it. I see that now you will be able to see how many shirts your players sold. Or was that available in prevous fm`s too?

Didn't really see anything in the video that got me excited at all. Obviously I don't expect them to show everything but would have been nice to have seen something that would get us more intrigued as to what FM17 will offer in terms of new features.

So underwhelming. I can sense another "We added 5000 new features" which we cant even find or notice in the game. 'Sigh'.

Added a pixel here and there x900.

Added one frame to an animation x100.

There's 1,000 'changes'. :p

On a more serious note, I see there's a 'press officer', whether that is a new staff member or is a feature being dragged out from the Fans section under the boards tab, I'm not sure.

I also see they have polished up some of the media stuff, like the match reports and so on. Not strictly new, but er, improved.

The data analysis staff member seems to present the prozone stats, but I think it remains a 'here's the tools' sort of feature and not a, 'here's how to interpret the tools' thing, so while some people will take advantage of it, especially the gurus over on the Tactics forums, I'm not sure how much it will help the average player who isn't sure of how to interpret the data. I hope it doesn't become one of those things where the staff member says something completely irrelevant (akin to assman advice), because that would just add to muddying the waters. Actually, can imagine people getting too hung up on it, like they did with the roles 'pie' for role suitability in FM16. Basically, I think it's a powerful feature that is going to cause headaches for the average player. :p

The new (I think its new) Team Report page looks great. Also interesting to see players studying for qualifications, but not sure that's new...

I see the manager can now have preset 'types' like 'motivator' and 'youth developer' and 'Knowledgable" and 'Taskmaster' and 'Tactical... genius?" - I assume that's at least '6' new changes :p , and would offer pre-set manager attribute changes for those keen on roleplaying? Not sure it is needed though, I thought the whole manager attributes thing is better if you just adjust to do as you see fit. I'll be interested to see if certain attributes remain more important than others. I.e. most the right hand window. Hmm?

Part of the 20k new media stuff seems to be a lot of older items getting polished up. The new physio fitness test reports looks better, noting the previous injury and such.

Commercial summary look sinteresting too. And there's a transfer/contracts advice page now, which might be useful...

In the final image, whoever is testing the game needs to listen to Cleon and try and get half his shots on target. Poor performance, sir! ;)

Going through the video frame by frame there is some good stuff in there. From the data analysis to the coaching badges to the formation information and so on. Look forward to more information on the changes, and it looks like the media stuff has been given an overhaul, though I like dealing with the media. Would love to see conversation changes re additions with the players and the team e.g. I play a rotation game, get used to it or tell why you do not like it.

I think the critisms are a bit harsh as the game is what it is and I am not sure what drastic changes can be made unless you had a pure 3D type of live action but that would mean a lot of processing and probably would not work as well as the current 3d.

Onward and upward :)

Has anyone noticed the new 'Start game as club manager' option? Do you think this could be the chance for us to start as a youth team manager first, or a re-worded 'Start as employed/unemployed' option? For the element of realism, would be kind of cool to start as youth manager - though I'd be surprised if this is so.

It could just mean, the choice between club manager or start the game as national team manager.

That's my interpretation, Miles is often asked on Twitter whether starting as an assistant manager or youth coach will be an option and he always says no.

The match engine graphics look very sweet and maybe worth the upgrade just for that.

On the other hand I don't like that green background - hopefully a few fan-made skins will sort that out.

Some of the new features seem unnecessarily gimmicky to me, as a lower league manager, e.g. shirt name sales.

If the data analysis job is to mean anything, it should affect my role as a LLM. By not being able to afford hiring one, it ought to mean the heat map screens etc etc are unavailable to me. It should also mean scouted players' attribute numbers should be revealed sooner if a data analyst is on the case. It ought, therefore, to make a manger's job who doesn't have one tougher, and I'm happy with that.

Surely it's the same as we have in FM16 with the button option, except the FM16 screen is far more aesthetically pleasing.

Agree with you, it was looking a lot better; hopefully they changed it in this way for a good reason - something we are not aware yet.

Looking at this screenshot, I don't notice anything new or maybe I'm missing something?

You are indeed missing something, but in fairness it is difficult to spot. :D

Off the top of my head - and bear in mind that I'm hardly forensic in my checking of screens even in FM16 - I see the following...

- budgets split out across seasons, so you can see how much money it'll cost across each year.  Don't think that was available before

- deadlines...could be wrong, and I suspect this is in FM16 too

That's all really - unless it's something carefully hidden behind the white overlay text

Yeah you're right about the budget split.

What I've spotted, (am I right @Neil Brock) is that the Monthly instalments padlock is in orange and not red. I assume this means a negotiable non-negotiation clause? Like "This clause is negotiable but cannot be excluded from discussion." Right? Maybe? Miles off? Damn it, did that even make sense?

Great eye, you've convinced me that's what it is. Good addition.
