When is the earliest we can play with a pre-order?

Never ever buy a game directly from Steam. They cost 20-40% more on Steam, buy it online somewhere else and activate it on steam via the code you get.

Even with the discount you get this year, if you own any of the previous FM's, you can still find it cheaper on other sites.

I disagree, i got a 20% discount from buying from Steam just now for FM 17.  Thanks anyway though man.  I also had money in my Steam wallet from a previous refund on the terrible Mafia 3 game so I just used that to pay for FM 17.  So it worked out.

Even the beta should be available before the Battlefield 1 game which releasing 21th October and earlier.

The pre-order clause of October 14 deadline gives me feeling beta game might release very after to that date perhaps?

Basically I beleive we must have the beta released in 18/19 October.

There is absolutely no way of telling what date it will drop.  It will be when SI are happy with the product and not a minute sooner.  They're planning that to be AROUND 2 weeks before, but it could be sooner if they make better time, or it could be later if they find issues that mean they have to delay.  Putting any kind of date on it is absolutely pointless.

On the other hand, buying from not-steam is a great way to pay money to a company that doesn't actually have any keys for the game, and doesn't give a half a crap about getting you your money back, so caveat emptor.

Agreed.  Yea I just feel a lot more comfortable buying from Steam.  I don't mind paying a little more for a game as well.
