Geordieboy52
Hi all So, I am playing as TNS in Wales and I picked up what looked to me like a cracking little DM from Australia (in 2021) so signed him despite not getting a WP for him in view to trying to get one. To cut a long story short I couldn't get one so offered him out to clubs for 0 upfront and 50% of future fee, he attracted some massive teams and eventually opted for the biggest of all, Real Madrid. I forgot about this until August 2027 when I received £41 million from an £81 million deal to take him to Chelsea. Wow! Anyone else got tales of profit like this. Funnily enough Real did this to another of my players but he had a release clause of £9,250 so there was no profit to be had on that but he is not worth over £30 million, you win some you lose some eh? Welshace
Man TNS could do with that in real life! Good going..
Geordieboy52
Thing is, I am not worried it's going to spoil my game, if that makes sense.
phd_angel
I've sold players cheap (100,000) to see them valued at 5 million a couple of years later. I haven't seen anything like you said at that scale though.
withnail316
That's a very special deal! My best was for a defender I signed for free as an 18 year old, and sold to PSG at 26 for £30m, and a striker signed for £400,000 and sold to Valencia for £20m 5 years later. JohnMatrix316
I signed Borja San Emeterio for just under £1M in my first season at Man U (FM16) and after 4 seasons I'm fending off bids of £29M+ from the likes of PSG and Chelsea. I have no intention of selling him as he is one of my most consistent performers. An assist machine played as a FB with attacking mentality.
oneronaldo
Not sure if FM12 or FM13, but back then you could get the Mexican forward duo of Carlos Fierro and Erick Torres for absolute peanuts (less than £3m IIRC?), both of them would then score ton of goals and after 3 seasons you'd be entertaining some £50m+ offers for each of them. Halofon
My experience is quite different, but however - almost in each game I have 2 - 3 cases when I sold the player for fair amount to other club with 50% future fee. After 1 - 2 years they offer the player on transfer list for smaller amount than I sold him, so I bought him back for 4,9 M - sold for 6 M formerly and half of this fee goes abck to my club. michaeltmurrayuk
Best I did was back in CM01/02 - Signed a regen Dutch DM for ~£2m, then after a couple of good seasons sold him to Inter(?) for £69m (which was a lot of money back then) with a sell on clause (25% I think) and a year later they sell him for £89m and thanks to the sell on clause they ended up with less money then they paid me for him. This version (FM16) the best I have done is get an extra £10m for my GK - I was winning Championship and he had a release clause to higher division teams of £6m, however Stoke didn't bid for him until a few days after our promotion had been confirmed and his clause was removed, meaning I was able to get them to pay £16m for him. BuryBlade
That's some great business for TNS! My best was on FM12 with my Sheff United team. I found a 16 year old newgen striker in Halifax Towns intake. Nick Brooksby he was called and he looked excellent, scouts agreed, so I signed him for a paltry 10k. He played for me from 16 to 25, became a club legend and Premier league wonder striker before I cashed in and got £40 million all up front from Man Utd. Poor Halifax hadn't negotiated any sell on either!
Gee_Simpson
What a great deal that was for you at TNS!
Richey2008
I'm great at doing this in reverse. Paying big bucks for someone, them being crap and selling for peanuts after a year. Well done though! TNS - surely they should dominate after that windfall!
PleasedToMichu
That's brilliant. TNS can reign supreme with all that money!! Best i did on 16 was sign a player on a free halfway through a season, then at the end of the season i was fighting off £8 million bids all over the shop. £8 million profit in half a season (if i accepted the bid that is, i didn't as it stands as he was a vital cog!) PhroX
I've had a couple of free transfers going for £20+m down the years but I've never quite gotten that kind of crazy profits on nothing. My best profit in 16 is a £8m signing going for about £40m+20m more in conditions 18 months of Championship football later.
Geordieboy52
I'm still going in this game. TNS are struggling to stay the dominant teach in Wales and after 27 in a row Haverfordwest took the title and are trouncing us this year! On the plus side I won the Euro league but am still struggling hugely in Champion's League! It''s a fun game though, not in the least bored by it and I'm now in 2043. Matt_G
Back on 13 I picked up a regen DM from Rennes on a free transfer, he made about 5 appearances for my Crewe side in the Prem and a handful in some cups before I sold him to Atletico Madrid for £32m after one season. Probably my best business!
AlTal
Best bit of business i did in FM16 was similar to OPs but no where near as lucrative upfront but just as lucrative in the long run! Got Cambridge United to the Championship in 3 seasons but stagnate there for 4-5 years (incredibly low budget, chairman selling my best players and a few poor signings from myself!). At the beginning of my 4th or 5th season in the Championship, my scout recommends this regen American Striker who had been released and i instantly fall in love with his stats/scout report. Would have easily been my best striker. After some hefty negotiations, he agrees to sign with me... I then completely overlooked the fact my scout said he would struggle to gain a work permit...i don't read the signing confirmation email saying he HAD failed to gain one and sign him... Sent him on loan hoping he'd get a few international matches for USA...he then gets injured on loan and faced 6 months out. Obviously couldn't get him a permit the following season, think i may as well try and get a couple of mill for him...ended up selling him for £8m! I then went on to sign 3 or 4 players from the money he bought in and they were integral to me smashing the league the following season! So £8m upfront and the many millions from promotion to the Premier league!
..Valhalla..
Not exactly the same thing, but: I had Spurs pay £42m for enterno-crock Daniel Sturridge in my most recent save. After a few season you actually had to scroll through his list of injuries, it really was absurd. He missed about 90% of Spurs' games in 4 seasons. Regarding the OP, that is quite amazing.
