MrMourinho
Hi! I am a loyal customer. I have bought the game each year since 20 years back. Unfortunately, last year the game was unplayable on my Macbook Pro from 2015. The fan was overheating and almost immediately the fan started to run loud and it went on almost all the time. I couldn't play the game, even with lower resolution. I want to buy this year's game but I don't want the same as last year? Since, the graphics is more advanced now I doubt that the game will run better this time? My hope was that Sports Interactive had found a way around overheating and loud fan. Do I dare to buy the game? I hope someone could answer me, because I think I deserve that since I am a loyal customer since many years. KUBI
Best way to find out is to download and play the demo.
MrMourinho
Thanks, I will do that!
Leti
the game is even worse this year.... so no it wont run on ur macbook pro mid15..... all macbook pro users cant play the game unless u turn off retina support and you want a very pixelated menu game never alone 3d engine. D4N20
I have a macbook pro 2015 and its smooth as you like... If you turn the graphics level to very low the fans barely even come on.

Yes and literally too, as you can't see the fans, as the crowd is turned-off on very low graphics.

Haha yeah i noticed that. I originally turned the graphics to very low by accident and just thought the fans had got sick of me.
MrMourinho
Thanks for the comments. It seems that the opinions vary. I have now tried the demo and it works satisfyingly. Of course the fans come on during games but in between they are pretty quiet. I have one doubt though, and it has to do with the demo. When you play with the demo it runs only one league, so there is just one league to process. What will happen when I play the full game and perhaps run 8 leagues, then there will be a lot more to process. Will the fans come on much more then? When I played the full game in FM 16 with 8 leagues the fans were on and very loud almost all the time. Could someone give me a qualified opinion? Thanks! Welshace
Almost certainly running more leagues will cause the fans and the system to be under more strain.. obviously.

See below for league specs. Since setting the graphics quality to very low the fans haven't came on once, during game or not. I have pretty much zero loading time and the matches run really smooth. Candre168
I have a MacBook Pro 2015 Retina with 16GB RAM and 2.5GHz i7 quad. I started an FM save with 30 nations loaded (about 50 leagues) and it ran fine, the fans were working very fast during games but lower the graphics and you should be fine. I've now got a save with only 11 nations loaded and it runs very fast. These are high end machines, I'd say you could easily run 15-20 nations and be fine but of course it depends on the speed at which you like to play. My macbook pro has a 2,7 GHz intel core i5 with a Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB, 8 GB RAM. Maybe your machine is much better than mine. I am not good at judging computer specs. Or what do you think?
KUBI
And don't forget there is a difference to last year, as all macs are running the game now in 64 bit mode.

Or what do you think? I'm not the best person to ask, because I always have a massive debate with myself about the right amount of leagues to load :D. It also depends on the kind of save you want, if you are just going to manage a top club, I think you don't need that many leagues, just the major Euro ones + 1 or 2 South American leagues. If you want a journeyman save, then you need more leagues. If I was you, I'd start a save with Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain loaded, and see how fast the processing is. If it's OK, you can try adding two-three more leagues, maybe one of Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, and Russia. See how it goes.

Out of interest, how many leagues would you personally load on my machine? 2.5GHz i7, 16GB RAM? I know you'll say it's subjective, but I'm interested how many you'd personally load. KUBI
The amount of leagues and players is just one thing, the speed depends on how you set this leagues in the game. If you run 8 leagues in full detail it will use a lot more computer power than playing 2 leagues in full and 20 others not in full detail or as view only. Because full details means that all matches are simulated in full detail, if you select "none" the simulation is basic and a lot faster.

Well, if I ran my previous set-up which was 30 nations and 42 leagues, with only 3 leagues on full detail and the rest on full, how would you estimate the speed would be compared to what you personally consider acceptable? Just curious.

Do you mean that FM 17 will run smoother than FM 16 with the same machine?

It depends on the RAM you have and how many other apps are running in the background.
