drajen
I'm playing 4-4-2 with Advanced F and DLF. Fluid and Attacking+Working into box+retain possession Playing in very low league. But my DFL is on loan from big club and has 17 Finishing and 18 Off the ball, dribbling 14, pace and agility is also high (for lower league) He is probably a star of the whole league scoring every two games, BUT The problem is, that when he gets a ball (and it happens a lot) he shoots right away from the place he is right now, like 15-20 meters, maximum getting ahead till penalty mark. He has hold the ball instruction, but apparently it doesn't help. How can I urge him to get WITH the ball further, closer to a goalkeeper?
sporadicsmiles
Does he have the shoots from distance PPM?

But if he has this coupled with 'shoots from distance' PPM then he will be shooting more often from distance, pretty much. However he may be shooting due to a lack of options around him. When he gets the ball does he have options other than a long shot? Is there anybody playing off him or linking up with him? Does he have players running in to the box? Or central midfielders supporting him deep? If he doesn't have any options he'll end up just shooting since, well, he is a striker and he has 'shoots more often' PI. This, especially if he lacks the physical ability to hold up ball (Strength + Balance). You are playing attacking so you are forcing him to act fast and take risks. If he isn't strong enough when he gets the ball and lacks immediate support than he'll take that risk and shoot. What tactics are you using right now?
