looping
Hi all, I'm looking for a very special kind of player. I want a big striker who can also act as a creator. The title of the thread says all: a creative target man. A player with good strenght, jumping, heading, bravery, teamwork, etc.. but also with good creative attributes: technique, first touch, passing and vision. Well, probably Zlatan... but are there more players like him (no need to be that good). I've found Dzeko (Roma), Djuric (Cesena), Lucas Pratto, Milik, Agirretxe... But they are too old or too expensive (Djuric is the only available, but he isn't good enough for some mid table teams in top Leagues). Do you know other players with this kind of attributes? Ideally, I want a creative target man, young and cheap. Edit: Plays with back to goal ppm really appreciated... Thanks in advance.
Swell86
Milan Djuric is probably my favorite player in FM. I buy him straight away for my Celtic side every year, and he works wonders for my team. He usually leads the SPL in goals, is close to the top in assists, PoM, average rating, etc. He plays very well in the Champions League too so it's not just against weaker competition where he thrives. I use him as a target man w/ support. His stats can be very misleading. The way I use him he's amazing - January 1st in my first season he has 26 goals, 14 assists, 8 PoM, and average rating of 7.88 in all competitions. fidelitywars
Croatian Bruno Petkovic of Trapani in Serie B is worth a look. Been outstanding for my Stuttgart side as a complete forward, both in terms of goals and assists; 6'4'' but with the technical skills of a number 10. His finishing stat isn't the most clinical and he's not the bravest but otherwise, he's got the strength, aerial threat and ball skills you're looking for. Very much a Berbatov/Vucinic type of striker. Otherwise, Lucas Alario of River Plate has nicely rounded attributes.

I've struggled on FM17 with the TM role and have reverted each time to CF. @looping short term option at start of the game... you can sign Drogba for less than £500,000 and he is a great tutor ... sign a younger TM and tutor him with Drogba. I have a 442 with a dlf-su PI: dribble less and hold position. A mix of a dlf and a tm. Negredo and Giroud are good options for that role. I want to try this role playing lone striker with a 2,3 or even 4 players running past him (work in progress). I don't like the tm role because my players tend to hoof the ball to him all the time. I'm not saying it can't work, it's just that I don't know how.

I use my own variation of a 4-2-4 WB Wide formation. Djuric is set to TM with support role. Complete wing backs are set to support, and wingers are set to attack. Djuric's strike partner is set to poacher/complete/advance forward. In midfield I have a BWM with support and an AP with attack. CDs are set to defend. I play an overall up tempo, attacking style. I prefer tall players with speed in every position unless their ability makes up for their lack of stature. I attached my formation if you want to give it a try. I change things as each game progresses. i.e. more direct passing vs. short passing, tighter marking, level of closing down, overload, etc. I hope some of this helps you out.
