British / English talent

Thought would start up a thread for young British and English talent as there is always a good one each year.

Some names to kick things off :

Will Hughes - seems to be great again but also very expensive. Is he actually this highly rated in real life?

Ryan Sessegnon - young left back at Fulham seems to have a lot of potential

Lewis Cook - brilliant young CM unfortunately just moved to Bournemouth so tough to buy at the start

Iorfa and Hause - two great young defenders at Wolves certainly worth a look. I just bought Iorfa for Swansea for 7 million.

who else especially for a mid table club to pick up?

While on the topic, I'm disappointed by the ratings given to Holgate and Loftus Cheek who both seem much better in real life than on the game

Jermaine anderson from peterborough. Decent all rounder, only 20 years old and can several midfield positions. You can get him for about 5 or 6 million.

Stuart Armstrong from Celtic who can play any midfield position apart from defensive midfielder and costs just 500k at the start

Jake Cooper, massive man mountain of a centre half from reading. Will cost about 6 or 7 million but has decent pace, can pass with reasonable vision and at 6 foot 6 is fantastic in the air. Still only 21

Oliver Burke - RB Leipzig - Attacking midfielder.

Only recently joined them from Nottingham Forest, lively winger who can develop quite well, so much so I've seen him end up at Man United worth over £30m a few seasons in. he maybe out of reach for the first season or two and then it's a fee of £10M-£16m depending on how he's developed In Germany.

John McGinn - Hibernain - DMC/MC/AMC

An all round midfielder, young enough to develop into a number of roles and can be purchased for under £1.5m. Probably a good signing for the Championship and then with some game time and development should be a solid premier league squad member.

To be fair to the Researchers Loftus-Cheek has spent the last 3 years or so at Chelsea out on loan to various clubs and its only really this season he has begun to shine.

I signed Hause from wolves and he is 1st team choice in a team who finished 6th in premier league and won the FA cup and did very well and is still doing very well in second season he is very consistent.

James Ward-Prowse from Southampton can possibly be gotten on loan in the first season and bought in the second (although a tad expensive) very versatile player can cover many positions and really good technically.

Iorfa from wolves is another great buy for between 7 and 9 million with so much potential. Can play play at centre back or right back and at 6'4 he's equally comfortable playing either but with 17 for pace he's best used as a marauding full back, bombing down the right like an english Lillian thuram

Holgate had a couple of games for Everton at the start of the season, and looked very comfortable, easily one of our best defenders in those games. Unfortunately, data was likely locked before then. Shame he hasn't had more game time to be honest, as Jagielka has been awful since he came back from injury

He's not had a single loan anywhere. One of the only ones who hasn't tbf

I don't think Ruben Loftus-Cheek needs more potential in the game. Speaking as a Chelsea fan, he looks about right - excellent  physical attributes, coupled with lacklustre mental and technical ones.

Chelsea fans have been quite critical of him this season in his limited appearances - he kinda looks lazy and uninterested - meanwhile Chalobah works hard and fights for every ball. It's hard to predict who will be better in the long-run but Chalobah looks more technically gifted and works harder....

GK
Jordan Pickford - can be bought for around £14million, good young keeper, lots of room to develop.
Freddie Woodman - cheaper option to Pickford, about £3 million if i remember right, makes a great backup first season for cup games etc, and develops very quickly

RB
Kane Wilson - west brom young right back, quick and can be approached to sign, high potential.
James Bree - the next young lad to come out of Barnsley, can be bought cheap, if given game time develops very quickly, good all round.

CB
Jordan Williams - Huddersfield town youngster, can play anywhere across back 4. cheap at start

LB
Josh Tymon - Hull youth player, similar to James Bree and available approach to sign

CM
Tom Davies - Everton youngster with good potential
Liam Walsh - Same as Davies
Callum Slattery  - All rounder from southampton academy

AMRLC
Andre Green - Young villa winger with high potential and good dribbling
Jonathan Leko - same as Green but quicker, will cost alot more though
Jack Grealish - Decent potential and CA is good too, will set you back about £14million though

ST
Zach Clough - 21 and injured at the start, but scores goals and can be purchased reasonably cheap.
Ben Morris - finishing and long shots with high potential
Nial Ennis - Finishing with speed
Geoff Hirst - Finishing with heading

Young Mr Hirst shares a name with the artist Damien and fellow Wednesday player David but not the world cup winner who helped his country to a 3_2 win over the germans/

I understand that , but I assume that's where OP's confusion was set...at least phonetically. David is also his father I think?

I was having a joke about the mistaken name, sorry for the confusion but of  course still believe Sir Geoffrey scored two

I've just started up with Bournemouth and unexpectedly sold Gradel to Liverpool for a ton of money, so this thread and the suggestions within have been quite helpful. Still looking to find a reasonably technical central defender who is British, young, and won't cost a mountain of money. Hoping Jordan Williams might be that guy.

Jordan Rossiter is the best buy for a CDM, CM. About 7 mil but everything you need for a Premier League side, only 21 (in my 3rd season when bought) but will be your future captain. Cant believe Liverpool let him go to Rangers. Seen a lot of bad comments about Holgate too but he's unbelievable for me as a Ball Playing CB. Dozzell is also highly recommended, can be trained into an Attacking Midfielder where i think he will be best.

I like Alfie Mawson at centre back, I got him in my second season with Palace and he's been awesome alongside big Jake Cooper as a ball playing centre half(even though at 6'2 he's  smallest member of my back 4 that also includes Tyrone Mings and Dominic Iorfa) he's quick, a good tackler and has decent vision for a centre half. All this plus the fact he can play sweeper make him an excellent buy

Pretty much perfect for what I would like... but he just joined Ipswich so he won't move again. I'll take a look at some of the others, unless I can loan Mr. Webster with an option to buy down the road.

I managed to get Reece Oxford for 5.5M at the start of the game, with any luck he'll turn out similar to Cunego's screenshot above.  Will Hughes always seems to end up transfer listed eventually on my saves so maybe worth waiting for him.

Outside of that pretty clueless in terms of English players but Mings seems to go cheap and Tierney is brilliant at LB.  Callum Paterson, despite not having great potential, has continually put in great performances for me.  His long throws are lethal.  Greg Taylor, Kiltie and Adam Frizzell worth scouting to see if you've got lucky with their potential.  Rossiter, Aitchison and John Souttar as well.

Tyler Roberts - Striker/AMR at West Brom developed really well for me.

In FM 16, four or five seasons in, I signed him playing as Leicester for 12 million. He and vardy were immense together and especially frightening in a three with Mahrez on the right, Vardy  the left and Roberts through the middle. I bought him at the age of 21 and only because he had 19 for acceleration, 19 for pace and 16 for finishing. Those stats plus 12 for heading made him an absolute steal, even at 12 million
