gholliday87
Not sure if this is in the right section, but has anyone ever managed to make the board happy with this philosophy? I'm playing as Arsenal, and I regularly have over 55% of the possession, I'm now a dozen games into my second season and I've still got "We have seen signs of an attempt to play a possession-based game etc etc" My instructions generally lead to a possession style with retain possession & mixed passing directness. What I'm wondering, is what is the 'magic percentage' of average possession you need to make the board happy

It should but perhaps it is simply the TI 'retain possession' that affects it. I only say that because similarly if the board asks you to play attacking football... it doesn't seem to link to number of goals you score or chances you create [in my opinion] ... just whether or not you select the attacking mentality in the tactic creator. You don't need to select the attacking mentality to meet the attacking philosophy requirements

I had selected attacking mentality as a weak side and as a result was getting beaten with little possession or shots, but the board were happy that I was playing attacking football? I can't remember I'm afraid but *IIRC* in one of Cleon's Defensive mentality threads he achieved it whilst playing with the defensive mentality
JPChenet
I think the fans feedback/ media give a clear indication of your style of play. You'll sometimes see an AI manager mention to the media before a game commenting on your 'possession-hungry' team or fans being delighted with the attacking intent after the game. gholliday87
They are more than happy with the attacking football I play, and I regularly get told by the press that I'm a 'brilliant passing/tackling' team, yet I can't seem to make my board fully happy for possession. They don't complain either, so it's not a massive issue. Just one of those things I've always wondered about
isignedupfornorealreason
"Attacking football" is calculated on number of shots/chances per match if I remember right. - You can win 1-0 every day, so long as you get the number of opportunities against the opposition goal basically. Possession is down the possession % - tricky because I think 60% is what you're generally after, and it would theoretically be easier to get if FM used IRL possession tracking - that is, by number of passes made rather than by the stopclock method - I don't know if that's changed for 17 though. Cleon
Anything over 55% is classed as possession football in FM
