Good old work permits.....

Recommended Posts

Does anyone even understand how permits work in this game? I certainly can't.

I'm now in the Engrish Premier League, and I have four wonderkids whom require permits. They all play internationally at their respective level, and have done for several seasons. In FM16, it was fairly easy to gain a permit once this was the case - but in 17, has anyone actually got one? I've sent my dudes to feeder clubs too, but five years in most cases is an awful long time. Most are part way through their Bulgarian nationality. It's proving a bit of a nightmare to be honest.

The game reflects real life changes that have occurred , which makes wp's in some cases harder to get...

Previously (pre 2015) all a player needed was to play 75% of their international games...

Now it's more complicated... but basically speaking  it depends on fifa's ranking on the teams:

Official FIFA Ranking Required % of international matches in past 2 yrs
FIFA 1-10 30% and above
FIFA 11-20 45% and above
FIFA 21-30 60% and above
FIFA 31-50 75% and above

So a player from a team who's ranked 50th will need to have played in 75% of games etc

Not sure how much is coded in game  but that's the basic idea.

There are exception rules etc of course.

Okay thanks a lot for the reply. I've got one guy from Peru, one from Nigeria, one from Algeria and one from wait for it... Cambodia :D

So the guys from Algeria and Cambodia will have a helluva time getting a permit unless i can send them to a feeder for 20 years.. Or something like that..

You know what's funnier. In my game brexit has hit me and I can't even get a work permit for an 18 year Dutch player. I actually can't sign any youngsters now unless they are British, it's absolutely ridiculous. As if it wasn't bad enough they've made it harder to sign non-EU youngsters, they now slap in BREXIT mode so you can't sign any EU youngsters either. Well done SI. Absolutely moronic addition. Hopefully something sorted in the next patch so I can actually enjoy transfers, probably one of the biggest parts of the game.

You don't have a god given right to sign anyone you feel like, like any game there are rules to follow.

Interestingly though you've only given us half the story - How many foreigners are you allowed in your squad now?

It's the English PL. As many as you like. What's even worse is the rules are different in this save than my last. In my last save I linked to a Belgium side and sent all my players that needed work permits there, they received their EU work permits within 3 seasons, sorted. In this save, this brexit silliness was randomly added and all those players I sent to a Belgium side in a different save went there for 3 years, and now not only was sending them a complete waste of time but now this brexit mode has meant Belgium players can't come to the PL anyway. What is this, a game or someone thinking they actually KNOW what will happen between European leagues and the PL? Or if it will in fact have any impact on purchasing European players? Clearly trying to be too clever and ruining one of the most important aspects of the game for one of the most popular leagues in the actual game.

You can defend it until you're blue in the face, but if anyone actually believes they can predict how the movement of players between the PL and European league will pan out then they're deluded. And if you aren't certain how this will pan out, then why add your predictions into a computer game? It's ridiculous.

i cant even sign an Italian from Italy {top 5 euro league} to my 2nd biggest contract and get a WP. according to the rules he should get one with those 2 requirements.  oddly enough my only non brit i ever signed was also a italian from italy. does anyone here think the english FA will make it so difficult to sign wonderkids and top prospects from other countries and make it impossible for stars from lower ranked countries to ever play in england?

It won't be the FA 's choice if a scenario such as the one in your case comes in..  it will be law.

Thats irrelevant tbh.

There are many different options within FM and a fair amount of randomness involved in the outcome you get.

The bottom line though is that the rules are the same for every team in your league so its a level playing field for everyone.

I'm playing a football management game. Why have they brought it upon themselves to bring something into said GAME that they have no experience of? And the reason they have no experience of this is because it hasn't even happened yet. Do you really think the FA and European countries won't come up with their own laws and rules for the movement of players between leagues? You don't know, I don't know, SI don't know. So why is it included in a game? There is no place or need for it.

I have to say im kinda with Glassy on this.

I have just started season 2... so when is Brexit meant to kick in? I have signed a few foreign youngsters from the EU but the ones i truly want are unable to get WP's because they are from Africa and South America.

No that won't happen, they'll have to abide by the laws of the country just like Serge Aurier was refused his WP for the PSG/Arsenal match tonight.

FA's bend the laws all the time. Football in some respects has a law of its own.

Do they really? please tell me you;re not suggesting this should be coded into the game?!
