Bunkerossian
My Ingolstadt save is doing fairly well in terms of defending and attacking from open play. Set pieces on the defense have been OK as well. However, I am nearly unable to score from set pieces, whether it is direct/indirect FK or corners. In a few games, this might've deprived me of a vital goal or two. Now, the biggest puzzle for me is: how can this be happening with the set piece taker I have at my disposal? Meet Pascal Groß: I have no idea how is he not scoring free kicks himself, but he hasn't done so yet. His corners are usually cleared by opposition defenders. With indirect free kicks it's better, but here, the recipients never, ever score. Here's nominally my best defenders, overall. And the other one- I have another large defender with 16 heading and 15 jumping reach. One of my strikers is a target man, Jumping reach 15, Aggression 17. But no. 1 goal from set pieces- where the taker was someone far worse than Groß, oddly. I have players on both posts for corners, frequently someione challenges the keeper (Tisserand or the target man, when he plays). Deliveries are varied for each side- there are two routines, but the place of delivery is different, so in total 4 options.
OhHoopedOne
I find it helps at corners if you someone stand next to the kick taker as it helps draw defenders out of box, giving you more chance of finding someone with a direct corner
AndersSchm
It feels to me in FM2017 there is more chance the defending team will counter from a corner and score than there is any chance of the attacking team scoring.

Scored a fair few goals on the counter myself as my defenderrs clear most corners to the man I place at the edge, who then plays it long to my two forward players

Depends who you're putting there to receive short I guess. I usually pick a wide player of the same foot as the side of the pitch the corner is on if his crossing is higher than my corner taker's corner attribute, so long as they have a mentality of at least S and don't have any reduced cross instruction. Never seen a cross blocked, 50% of the time he gives it back to the taker who ends up whipping one in. It's an odd one if you're getting that a lot. Wouldn't know about that as I have never seen an AI controlled team take a short corner( have you?) and don't use them myself
