Monaco / Scotland November 2051 Mini-Update Suck it, Carragher. I heard you snickering with little Mickey Owen on that hot mic, on Match of the Day. Who's laughing now, yeah? Just when it felt like the wheels were about to come off as we careened down the road...the tactics clicked and we turn it around. What did I say? Just keep your heads down, keep working, and stay the course Stay the course we did, and it has all paid off. Trust in me, lads. I'll take you to the promised land. ManUtd1
Who discovered we could get milk from cows, and what did he THINK he was doing at the time?! Monaco / Scotland December 2051 Mini-Update Yes!!! The Champions League Matchday 1 loss to the Greeks is well in the rearview now, lads. Let them all count you out. It makes victory all the more sweet. Between you and me, Ludwig, we've got a lot of work to do. Clovis and Rocha are too expensive to resign, and will depart on a free next summer. That's two of our key goalscorers that we'll be saying goodbye to. And the youth aren't quite up to snuff yet, with a need to bring in homegrown players...yes, things are promising at the moment, but there is work to be done. In the meantime, we can plan for a trip to Valencia...always a dicey proposition in light of the ... unfortunate event ... with Shakira. Regardless, water under the bridge at this point. I'm looking forward to some downtime over the holidays in Switzerland...with Emma...I'm too old for this nonsense. Fenerbahce just ate **** with that draw. PSG in serious danger of going down. Saint-Etienne too, which is odd given the success you had with them earlier. Very much so. Funding started scaling back in 2020, with another tycoon stepping in later (only to withdraw funding in 2042). The rot set in shortly thereafter, and they've gone through a succession of awful managers ever since Tissoudali left. Other factors seem to include: (1) the rise of Saint-Etienne and Stade de Reims, somewhat close in time; (2) tycoons taking over for overlapping periods at Nantes (twice!) and Marseille in the 30s/40s -- even though neither side won anything of note, they hoovered up talent and prevented PSG's ostensible financial muscle from dominating the market; (3) the resurgence of Lyon (tycoon takeover in 2038 (withdrawn in 2047), which has led to a period of dominance, including winning Ligue 1 for the last 5 years and the CL in 2046; and (4) the recent emergence of Tours after a tycoon takeover in 2047. The same factors, coupled with the passage of time since Hakan left in 2037, haven't helped Saint-Etienne. As you can see, they've remained competitive in Ligue 1 up until this year. Massive shame to see them having fallen so far. GNev has taken to calling PSG the new Liverpool, both for historical reasons and the fact that Liverpool has completely fallen off the table in-game, barely avoiding relegation twice in the last few years. To be fair, it isn't just PSG. A handful of other big sides have also had periods of serious decline or struggle, including Bayern, Man City (Mansour left in 2045), Chelsea (Abramovic withdrew funding in 2021, left in 2028) and Real Madrid. Spain is an odd one, given how far off the table they've fallen in the co-efficients (a steady 5th, behind Ligue 1, the Bundeliga, PL and Serie A for decades). It was absolutely surreal...I swear my players were still either drunk or hungover from celebrating Euro qualification a few days earlier. Australia had a solid period in the 40s where I hoped they might become eligible (after failing to qualify in 2030 and 2034.) I would have loved it, but it didn't happen. They've struggled a bit since.
