ManUtd1
You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way. Valencia CF / Côte d'Ivoire December 2067 Mini-Update Merry ****ing Christmas, Ernesto. He was so happy to tell everyone that Ana Sofia is pregnant, and boasting of his virility...trying to get everyone to call him "One Shot" as a reference to their honeymoon. Ernesto explains that Ana Sofia "hasn't been feeling well" since early November, which he considers to be morning sickness. We tried pointing out that morning sickness doesn't often include pulled hamstrings, and that headboards don't just spontaneously snap in half mid-day during training, but he just shrugged us off. No one has the heart to tell him outright. And after a few days, it became too late to tell him...I mean, THAT would have been awkward...so, everyone is just going along with it. All of it. Even the nickname. He's so happy. Božidar seems impervious to logic and common decency. He and his stretch Land Rover are alike in that way. This won't end well. ManUtd1
I'm in Hell. On an airplane somewhere high above West Africa, en route to the African Nations Championship in Guinea. No, not because of the destination. Or the fact that I've just wrapped my head around squad selection for the tournament, which features only players based in their home nations. Steve Winwood's "Back in the High Life" is blaring. See, Ernesto made a playlist. It consists three songs, all by Steve Winwood. It has been on repeat for the last 4 hours. It's been more than a month since the big announcement, and Ernesto still hasn't figured it all out. Even when Bozidar offered Ernesto and Ana Sofia use of his guesthouse (out back by the 2nd pool), so that the young couple's "money problems" wouldn't prove to be an obstacle in raising their child. To be fair, we don't pay Ernesto much. But I don't think a raise is what he needs. I heard through the grapevine that Bozidar's cleaning staff quit, claiming that the poolhouse had become a "den of depravity" since Ernesto and Ana Sofia moved in. "It was like Jackson Pollock painting in there, señor. No bueno." Poor Ernesto. Singing his heart out, but refusing to see what is right in front of his eyes, even when I show him the pictures. No, not of Ana Sofia and Bozidar, I'm not that cruel. Of a young Steve Winwood. "That IS Steve in Traffic, Ernesto. Dear Mister Fantasy. Please. Have some self respect! If you have to listen to Steve Winwood, go with that or with Gimme Some Lovin. That work was iconic...this...mid-80s nonsense is...unseemly." "But Boss...Mister Steve is a genius...his later work is transforming me... NOW I'M FREEEEEE, FREEEE FALLIN'...." "That's Tom Petty, Ernesto." "I will not listen to your lies, Boss!!!" Like I told you. I'm in Hell. Edited September 9, 2017 by ManUtd1

ManUtd1
African Nations Championship Review; Guinea 2068 I have to say that...for a competition I wasn't very enthusiastic about, once I saw that beautiful trophy I knew I wanted it. It is phenomenal. Seriously. But it wasn't to be. The squad wasn't up to snuff, and the only two players worth their weight in sawdust haven't left the Ivory Coast, but only because they're not old enough to join me in Spain just yet. We were rampant in the Group Stage, but crashed out in the quarterfinals. It's a shame, but it's time to get back home. The first leg against Juventus is next week. And Bozidar's Instagram feed has become even more filthy, less discrete...something I didn't think was possible. As noted previously, this tournament was extremely low priority for me...even if the FA expected me to win it and is upset. 1 loss in nearly 2 years, guys...really?! Seems a bit harsh. I went with a squad of players that -- other than 2 who need time to develop at Valencia-- are miles away from the Ivorian squad. Nevertheless, it was great fun. And that trophy is absolutely stunning. Daddy want. Edited September 9, 2017 by ManUtd1
ManUtd1
You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way. Valencia CF / Côte d'Ivoire March 2068 Mini-Update We're 10 points clear in La Liga, with 9 matches to play. Our only loss this calendar year has been a smash-and-grab job at the Nuevo Mestalla, at the hands of Granada. Otherwise, we're on track for the title and set to face Madrid in the Copa del Rey final. In Europe, a hard-fought draw in Turin put us in great position. We scored an early penalty in the 2nd leg, meaning that the Italians would have to chase us...and we punished them for it, running out 3-nil winners on the night. Gustav's Lyon went out to Spurs, meaning that the draw wouldn't see a family reunion...but we could see a return to Belgrade, and we could also face West Ham, Anderlecht, Tottenham or Leipzig, each of whom we've squared off against in the last 12 months. We get the Germans, a re-match of our epic semfinal tie last year. Edited September 9, 2017 by ManUtd1
ManUtd1
You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way. Valencia CF / Côte d'Ivoire April 2068 Mini-Update Another year, another come-from-behind victory over Ze Germans in the second leg. Poor Liepzig. We'll face Roma. Manchester United will face West Ham in the other semifinal. Is this our year? Domestically, the La Liga title is all but ours.
ManUtd1
Quick glance around Europe... Panathinaikos have had an absolute 'mare, with their manager being sacked while they were in 12th. West Ham is doing their usual thing, and Dijon continues to dominate in France. Gustav's position is in jeopardy at Lyon. Frankfurt looking strong in Germany! Woohoo! Partizan continues to curb-stomp Serbia and...Brugge, at the bottom of the Championship Group in Belgium. Brutal.
ManUtd1
You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way. Valencia CF / Côte d'Ivoire May 2068 Mini-Update It's like deja vu, all over again. A triumphant win in Rome, and a command performance at the Nuevo Mestalla. We're through, 5-2 on aggregate. To face...Manchester United, who manage a shock 1-0 win on aggregate over West Ham. The ironic part? United literally just fired their manager due to the fact that they're sitting 8th in the PL right now. This is a far, far better draw for us. But anything can happen over 90 minutes. I won't get to the final tonight, unfortunately. Tomorrow...hopefully in the morning, my time.

ManUtd1
Galindo denied again moments before the halftime whistle is blown. It's been all Valencia. A 4th, and this match is over.
