Michael Zorc
Would like to suggest a new feature that allows us as managers to instruct wide midfielders to position themselves "narrower" in the defensive phase. This is a really important tactical option that is currently not available on FM17. Ideally, it would look something like this: Conversely, I'd also like the option to instruct central players to "sit slightly wider in the left/right half-space" when in the attacking phase. Currently, we only have "moves into channels" but these tend to be more forward thinking/penetrative movements, rather than hanging back and positioning one's self slightly wider but in deeper areas with no diagonal/vertical running towards the box to achieve this. Ideally, it would look something like this: In certain situations, I've seen this behaviour in FM, but there's no instruction to make this happen as a deliberate and consistent tactical act. It would also be ideal, if this was implemented with a playmaking role, to have the option to tell that playmaker to focus on maintaining his positioning in that slightly wider half-space, rather than running across teammates to get to the other side of the pitch to seek the ball, as is often the case with playmakers on FM. Having an alternative "positionally disciplined playmaker" (the opposite of a roaming playmaker, perhaps?) would be a great option and would replicate how many top class players play this role in real-life, giving us managers more variations and flexibility with our tactics, which do not currently exist. Thanks.
