FrazT
If the idea of last nights team was to give the fringe players a game, why play Adam and not Buffel from the start? It was a surprisingly strong side and I doubt that it would have been weakened by not playing Adam.
SI Staff Ter Posted January 24, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 24, 2008 Adam has been on the bench a fair bit recently so it was probably to give him some match action as there is a chance he will play now that Thomson is out

He is not everybody's cup of tea, but when the team is crying out for some creativity then surely he must at least get a chance to try again? He could be an asset in Europe. SI Staff Ter Posted January 24, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 24, 2008 That depends if the rumours of us having to pay Feyenoord £350,000 if he plays one more game are true If not then I can see a role for Buffel in our current side with us playing with Hemdani and Ferguson in midfield with Buffel floating further forward. Haz
maybe it was my imagination but Buffel looked bigger than I remember - if he has beefed up a bit it would stand him in good stead
SI Staff Ter Posted January 24, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 24, 2008 Roy Carroll has joined Derby on loan. Probably means we'll be bringing a keeper in on loan as cover as well. Possibly Ward from Sunderland if reports are true. Also was reading there might be a snag with the Cousin deal as he's played for both Lens (for 20 mins or so ffs) and Rangers this season and would need special permission to play for another club before next season. He probably played yesterday in midfield rather than wide to get some match practice there. Anyway, seems the FIFA ruling thing is holding up both Cousin and Faye from leaving. Hope they allow both players to move on.
FrazT
Derby reporting this am that the Carroll deal is not finalised yet as Rangers still do not have a replacement. With the Cousin deal also pending, it could end up as a quiet transfer window after all.
Haz
not a problem if it is - a bit more quality is always welcome but we certainly don't need to resort to any panic buying
Peacemaker7
Would rather see the gradual introduction of some of really decent youths than waste money bringing in yet more overpaid foreigners. Sure, if there is a player who can improve the squad and doesn't cost and arm and a leg, but the squad we have has gotten us to the top of the SPL and there is no reason they can't keep us there - it's not as if there is really any competition. Obviously for the future we might still be looking at a bit more quality in certain positions if the youths prove to be duds, and Davie Weir won't last forever at the back. But thats the future. jimbo22
Originally posted by Powlay:How can they class the deals together, the Faye deal is a loan, if he went back couldnt he be loaned out again? Faye has already played games for Charlton and us this season, FIFA rules state that you cannont playe for 3 teams in one seasn so that would be the case if they went to loan him out again. Charlton will probably say that he's not in their plans, so in a way it would leave the guy out of football. Not a bad thing, but hey ho.
SI Staff Ter Posted January 25, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 25, 2008 Charlton will probably say that he's not in their plans, so in a way it would leave the guy out of football. Not really as he is on loan to us for the season so if he doesn't get a move elsewhere he'll be back with us. Charlton recalling him would say to FIFA that they want to keep him and they probably wouldn't let him go to Blackburn.

SI Staff Ter Posted January 26, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 26, 2008 He's only on loan to Wigan from Charlton so it would be silly for Bruce to say such a thing if he was thinking of making the deal permanent. SI Staff Ter Posted January 26, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted January 26, 2008 Could be a problem though as he's played for Charlton and Wigan this season so we would have to get special permission from FIFA to bring him in. What a silly rule
