Rycroft93
Is it worth signing ageing players on a 1-2 year contract just to tutor younger players? i am currently in the first transfer window and there are a few aging players with great mentals that are not good enough to play for me who have been transfer listed. is it worth signing them for a small fee and having them tutor my younger players even though they would probably never play? Craigus89
It is definitely beneficial. It depends on a number of things though that you need to weigh up. The tutor must have a higher squad status than the tutee, so signing them with 'backup' as their squad status will mean they can only tutor hot prospects or youngsters in your first team. If they have a higher squad status they will likely expect to play some games, but if you are signing them to be tutors they probably have high professionalism so will be less of a problem. If you can play them in cup matches or something that may help.
MShing
Yes definitely I do this all the time. On my arsenal save Drogba and Kuyt were brilliant tutors

I would like to add to what craigus89 said. It's also important to consider that the mentor reputation (named world reputation in game), will be higher than your tutee reputation. When you have a mentor with high World Reputation, the youth player will respect him inside and outside the field. Another examples: If you train Real Madrid and you brought up a youth player which his favourite personel or idol is Cristiano ronaldo (this can be viewed in the information screen of a player), it's benefical to give Ronaldo to totur this players (this is varie between players, not all players have an idol, favoutive personal, atleast not in game). So when you buy a player just for being a mentor, you would like to consider his reputation aswell so he can infulence the youth player personality. I hope there are no grammar mistakes, if there are any, sorry for that. I hope it helps.
