It doesnt make any difference except reducing the wage budget i think... so i keep it as low as possible ... i have a contract till 2015 (negotiated for 5 years instead of 2) with the lowest pay possible (55k/week)... why waste wage budget on my contract? Why not recieve as i have over £2m wage budget but im barely above 1m with my staff and players wages. It wud be different if i at club struggly with money. I keep it short, either 1 or 2 years, so that I don't get bored too easily. The tension of always having to do well to 'earn' a new contract is intriguing.
